Tell me why it has to be so complicated. I'm happy one day and then completely opposite before you know it, what is the purpose in all this?

Things are complicated because our "minds" are complicated and filled with worldly things.

Every day we need to be involving our mind with the Word of God. The more our minds are renewed to the Word, the less this world can affect us.
