Teenage ### Prayer Request

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I am asking that you pray for my ### year old daughter who is currently a senior in High School. She is struggling with a group of "mean girl" that are constantly making up stories and purposely leaving her out of activities. These girls were once her friends, but have recently turned on her. She is such a faith driven girl. Since she does not party, or drink, and is a Christian but is getting left out and bad mouthed for it. It hurts me as mom to see such a faithful teenage girl get treated this way. Please lift her up in prayer. Thank you.

We are deeply moved by your prayer request for your precious daughter, and we stand with you in lifting her up before the Lord. It is heartbreaking to see a young woman of faith face such cruelty, especially when her commitment to Christ is the very reason she is being targeted. But let us remind you both that the Lord sees her faithfulness, and He will never leave her nor forsake her. In fact, Scripture tells us that those who suffer for righteousness’ sake are blessed, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Your daughter’s refusal to conform to the world’s standards—such as partying or drinking—is a testament to her devotion to Christ, even if it comes at a cost. Jesus Himself warned us that the world would hate His followers because it first hated Him. In John 15:18-19, He says, *"If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. But because you are not of the world, since I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."* Though this truth may bring sorrow, it also brings great hope, for it means she is walking in the footsteps of her Savior.

We also turn to the words of Peter, who reminds us in 1 Peter 4:12-14, *"Beloved, don’t be astonished at the fiery trial which has come upon you to test you, as though a strange thing happened to you. But because you are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice, that at the revelation of his glory you also may rejoice with exceeding joy. If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you."* Your daughter’s suffering is not in vain. The Lord is refining her, strengthening her, and preparing her for a purpose far greater than the approval of her peers.

At the same time, we must also address the pain of betrayal she is experiencing. It is never easy when those we once called friends turn against us, but even this is not outside of God’s sovereignty. David, a man after God’s own heart, knew this kind of betrayal well. In Psalm 55:12-14, he laments, *"For it is not an enemy who insults me, then I could bear it. It is not an adversary who magnifies himself against me, then I could hide from him. But it is you, a man like me, my companion, and my familiar friend. We took sweet fellowship together. We walked in God’s house with company."* Yet even in his pain, David turned to the Lord, trusting in His justice and mercy. Your daughter can do the same.

Let us also encourage her to remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:11-12: *"Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you."* Her reward is not found in the approval of these girls but in the eternal treasure she is storing up in heaven.

As for the "mean girls" who are spreading lies and excluding her, we must pray for them as well. Jesus commanded us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us (Matthew 5:44). Their actions reveal their own brokenness and need for Christ. While their behavior is sinful and hurtful, we ask the Lord to soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth. May He convict them of their cruelty and lead them to repentance.

Now, let us pray together for your daughter:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy yet hopeful hearts, lifting up this precious daughter of Yours who is facing the pain of rejection and betrayal. Lord, You see her tears, You hear her cries, and You know the depth of her heartache. We ask that You wrap Your arms of comfort around her and remind her that she is never alone, for You are with her always. Strengthen her, Lord, in this season of trial. Fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Father, we pray that You would give her wisdom in how to navigate these relationships. Help her to respond with grace and truth, knowing that vengeance belongs to You (Romans 12:19). Let her not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21). Surround her with godly friends who will uplift her, encourage her, and walk beside her in faith. May she find her identity not in the opinions of others but in the unshakable truth that she is Your beloved child, fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Lord, we also lift up these girls who are treating her so cruelly. Soften their hearts, Father. Convict them of their sin and lead them to repentance. May they come to know the love of Christ, which transforms hearts and minds. If it is Your will, Lord, restore these relationships in a way that brings glory to Your name. But even if not, let Your will be done.

We pray that through this trial, her faith would grow stronger, her love for You deeper, and her testimony brighter. May she shine as a light in the darkness, drawing others to You by her steadfastness and joy in the midst of suffering. Remind her, Lord, that her suffering is temporary, but her reward is eternal.

Finally, Father, we ask that You give her mother—and all who love her—the words to speak to encourage her and point her to You. Fill their home with Your peace and unity, and let this season draw their family closer to You.

We pray all these things in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who endured the cross for our sake and now sits at Your right hand, interceding for us. Amen.

To the mother who submitted this request: We encourage you to continue to be a source of love, support, and biblical truth for your daughter. Remind her often of her worth in Christ and the eternal perspective we must hold in times of trial. Encourage her to spend time in God’s Word and in prayer, drawing strength from Him daily. If she is not already connected to a strong youth group or Bible study, consider helping her find one where she can be surrounded by like-minded believers who will uplift her in faith.

Let her know that her faithfulness is not unnoticed by God. He is her defender, her shield, and her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). In due time, He will lift her up and bring justice. Until then, may she—like Joseph, Daniel, and so many others before her—remain steadfast, knowing that the Lord is with her.

We're right there with you, sister, lifting up your daughter in prayer. It's heart-wrenching to see her hurting, but we know that God sees her and He's right there with her. Let's remind her, and you, of Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." He's not far off, He's right there, wrapping His loving arms around her.

Let's encourage her to keep standing firm in her faith, even if it's tough. Remember, Jesus said in Matthew 5:11-12, "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." She's in good company!

Let's also pray that God would soften the hearts of those girls who are treating her this way. They're lost and hurting too, and they need Jesus just as much. We can't let our anger towards them overshadow our love for them. Let's pray that God would use this situation to draw them all closer to Him.

Let's keep praying, sister. We're in this together. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
