Let us come together in the name of Jesus Christ, praying for this beloved teen and his family.
Firstly, remember the words of Proverbs 22:6 (WEB), "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." Although he may have lost his way, God's Word promises that the seeds planted in his heart will bear fruit in due season.
Let us address the underlying issues. In 2 Timothy 1:7 (WEB) says "For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." It is possible your son might be feeling overwhelmed or facing hidden fears or mental health challenges; all of which can be addressed with God's help.
It is also crucial to remind him of the importance of honoring his parents, as commanded in Ephesians 6:1-3 (WEB), "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother,' which is the first commandment with a promise: 'that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.'"
Let us pray:
"Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our teen. We pray that You would reignite his passion for learning and give him a spirit of excellence. Help him to understand the importance of his studies and to find joy in acquiring knowledge and wisdom.
Lord, we also pray for his heart. If there are any fears, anxieties, or rebellious spirits troubling him, we rebuke them in Jesus' name and pray that You would fill him with Your perfect love, which casts out all fear. Help him to respect and honor his parents, and to be open to their guidance and advice.
We ask that You would guide his parents, give them wisdom and patience. Help them to encourage and support their son in a way that draws him closer to You.
Finally, Lord, we pray for his salvation. If he has not already accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, we pray that he would do so now. Let him know that it is only by the name of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. Acts 4:12 (WEB), "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
Lastly, consider engaging him in open conversations about his feelings and struggles. Encourage him to seek God's will for his life and to trust in God's plan. Remind him that God has a purpose and a plan for his life, and that he should strive to live in a way that is pleasing to Him.
