I wrote these notes down for a bible study and just found them, I am not sure if I read and wrote parts of a book or if it was something I watched, a Preacher, but I wanted to share because it encouraged me once again.. Our minds are our worst enemy, even stronger than Satan...at least we can get away from him...but I can't seem to get away from myself...ever! I truly am such a battle...very strong willed and very bold when I "think" I know or I actually know the right way....Words are my friend..and I can use them well (sometimes not for the good of Christ)...so I struggle against me daily as I try to walk in full obedience to His way and His purpose no matter what falls before me..so I continue to train my mind...with a "set" mind on Him...God bless and I pray you get blessed by Him....
What was I thinking? Have you ever had that thought? I have many a time! Usually it was after something I said or did that wasn't a very good decision...and then, there is nothing to do except apologize for my actions to my victims. When we make selfish choices we always hurt someone and they fall victim to our thoughts, which became an action, that lashed out and cut and wounded probably all of us who heard it or received my actions...
One big revelation that I have received is, in my journey and this story that is called my life, my mind can work for me or against me...it all depends on how "I" train it...
So, when does it work for me? When I stay positive, reach goals, and I am able to enjoy life each day...
When does it work against me? When I am negative and discouraged, it holds me back from things I need to do and want to do, it hinders my accomplishments..
As a physical structure and organ of the human body our brains engage in many functions that take place without us knowing, without our help and outside of our control. It has all sorts of jobs in your body it controls our heart rate, our breathing, blood, hunger and thirst it controls our sensory processing, sight, hearing, emotions, learning and our memory, these are all areas with which the brain is involved and so much more.
Our brains are the "home" of our thoughts. The Word and science agree and believe that the mind and brain are one.
So; let's give our brains a new job!
The job being to teach our brain a new way to work for me and not against me
How do we do this?
We do it intentionally! Do it on purpose and for a Purpose......
Make intentional decisions, force myself to think positive. Retrain my brain to think automatically in the positive, which this can take some time since we are all overcoming a mindset that we have used automatically all our lives, with lots of opinions and personality....it is an on purpose thought and feeling to overcome old thoughts, feelings and personality... so retrain your mind so it's new mind set is positive and righteous in His eyes. It's knowing that ALL things come from God, and we are to trust Him and Love like He did and does, there is no greater Love than he who would lay his life down for his brother..,it's easy to Love all that loves you, it is quite another emotion and "feeling" to Love those who persecute you and disrespect you... it is a new mindset, on purpose change of mind that may even go against all that you "feel". Feelings have no place in decisions. Feelings have no place in God's story. It is all about Him and bringing Him glory and honor with Praises knowing that He has placed it all in front of us so He can receive glory and Honor to His holy and righteous name.
What God needs and wants from us is a "radical change".
A change so profound that all will see, and your life will be a light to a dark and hopeless world..Radical transformations can and usually take time, but with determination and giving yourself a little grace along with God's grace and help you can and will become the vessel that GOD has purposed and planned for to fulfill His Divine Plan,of leading and guiding us to blessings not only here on earth but for the New World to come, a place with streets of gold and a Pearl for the gateway, a place with many mansions that are being built for us according to our righteousness in His Word. An intricate plan that has placed each and every one of us ever born in that divine Plan that works together for the good of all who obey and love Him....it is a mind set.
Our brains take 18 years to grow..a lifetime to mature.
A little personal story here that is spoken with much love and honesty...it would be awful to me at the end of my life for people to have nothing good to say about me. This just happened with my mother in law who passed two weeks ago..A severe alcoholic all her life it was sad, her funeral, it was sad.
In what ways does your mind work against you?
Positive thinking is not only a state of mind it is also good for your body. Again science and God link up as one. It is well known fact even in terminally ill patients their state of mind helps them to survive longer. People with high blood pressure are encouraged to "calm down" it is just better coping in general. The brain also affirms works with the body, once an alzheimers patient is convinced that a certain pain pill does not work...it won't.
What does positive thinking do?
1. releases power of potential
2. encourages positive responses
3. keeps things in perspective
4 helps you enjoy life
With positive thinking you can see potential in any situation which allows you strength to make good decisions and to take action,
It releases the power of potential: example, centuries ago when many parts of the ancient world were unsettled, God promised the land of Canaan, the promised land, the land that flows with milk and honey. BUT not without opposition, they had to face the giants, but, the promise was there, always for all, and when God makes a promise He means it, it is a surety, a given.
Being positive is taking God at His word. Knowing that He said it and it is. It does not mean you deny the existence of the difficulty it means you believe God and that He is greater than any situation or circumstance that is causing you a battle. He has the solution and He is causing us to win, because He already paid the price and grace and mercy are with us along with His unconditional love. When we are closed to positive thinking then we can only see what is before us and we stay stuck on the situation.
Train your brain to trust God no matter what you see or feel, believe God has a Purpose and Plan that is solely for you to work together at so we can become all He needs us to be in One with Him, so His power is manifested and worked into our lives with blessings and with grace. Choose to see His power and might. There is nothing impossible for God...He Is the Creator of ALL.
The way we think is the way we speak, the way we speak not only affects us but it also affects everyone within hearing distance. If our actions are negative, people always notice. We also influence with our thoughts that turn to words. God have mercy on the soul who leads a innocent child the wrong way.or others to sin by their words.....bible says you are better off hanging a milestone around your neck....Mmmmm
Most common negativism is "flat world attitude" this happens when a statement is not true but people believe it based on hearsay, past experience or what is considered common knowledge. Don't let someone else's limited thinking limit you.?"
A soldier was working the meal line with apricots to serve and asked "you don't want any apricots do you?" 90% said no....they changed the question to "would you like some apricots?" 50% said no...Simply by changing how it was asked...point is watch what your listening to and watch how you influence others. Negative produces negative Positive keeps things in perspective. Avoid making mountains out of mole hills, or, negative always blows things out of proportion it magnify's the difficulty that it is hard or impossible to see the good. To see the good in situation or in others is a mind set. Murphy's law is: Nothing is as easy as it looks, everything takes longer than you expect, if anything can go wrong it will at the worst possible moment. So agree with God's thoughts and constantly live in the Positive and give Him all the glory in all, then Peace that passes all understanding covers you and we become all we can be for Him as we walk in full obedience and Love

5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
So I start by remembering I am in a spiritual war and I have to bring all thoughts into obedience of Christ.
May the Lord bless and keep us all in His mind set for all to see bringing Him glory and honor
In Jesus name.
