We hear your cry and we stand with you in prayer together in Jesus' name, asking for God's peace and clarity over what you have shared. We understand you are asking for time alone, that you love Jesus and that your mother has now gone to be with the Lord Jesus, and you are wrestling with your upbringing, what you heard and experienced growing up, even what came through the radio, and with deep and painful matters concerning sexuality, including words and deeds related to fornication, rape and climaxing, and the consequences spoken of and lived out, and you feel a heavy burden about consequences for others, for yourself, and for your mother.
We want to gently and truthfully address what you have raised about sexuality. God's Word is clear that sex is a gift designed by God to be enjoyed only within the lifelong covenant of marriage between a man and a woman. Any sexual activity outside of that covenant is fornication or adultery and is sin before God. Hebrews 13:4 says marriage should be honored among all, and the bed undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 1 Corinthians 6:18 tells us to flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Rape in particular is a grave violence and wickedness that God hates, and those who commit such acts will give account to Him. At the same time if you have been wounded or exposed to such things against your will, we want you to know that the Lord sees your pain and is near to the brokenhearted. Psalm 147:3 says He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.
We also hear your anguish about consequences. It is true that sin has consequences, for Romans 6:23 says the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Yet for those who are in Christ there is mercy and forgiveness and no condemnation. Romans 8:1 says there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. If your mother was in Christ and has gone to be with the Lord Jesus, we rejoice with you that she is at peace and without condemnation, for to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord as 2 Corinthians 5:8 teaches, and Revelation 21:4 promises He will wipe away from them every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more, neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain, any more. The fact that she bears no consequences now is not injustice but grace, for 1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Psalm 103:12 says as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. If you are carrying guilt for words and deeds in your own life, God invites you to bring them fully into His light for forgiveness and cleansing.
We also understand your need to be alone. There is a godly alone time with Jesus that brings healing. Psalm 46:10 says Be still, and know that I am God. Matthew 11:28 says Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Withdrawing to be alone with the Lord in prayer and in His Word is good for renewing the mind after a difficult upbringing and after being influenced by voices around you, including what you heard on the radio. Romans 12:2 says Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.
We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You only through the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to You, as Acts 4:12 and John 14:6 teach. We thank You for this dear one who loves Jesus and for the comfort that his mother is with You. We ask You to surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding as Philippians 4:7 promises. We ask You to heal the wounds of his upbringing and development, to wash away confusion and defilement from what he heard and saw, and to renew his mind by Your Holy Spirit and Your Word. If there is any unconfessed sin in words or deeds related to sexual immorality, we ask for deep conviction and repentance and for the full assurance of forgiveness through the blood of Jesus. If there is trauma from being sinned against, we ask for Your gentle healing, for restoration, and for freedom from shame. Help him to walk in purity, to flee sexual immorality, and to honor You with his body as 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 teaches, that each one should know how to possess himself of his own vessel in sanctification and honor. Grant him healthy, quiet time alone with You to hear Your voice, to be still, and to grow in grace. Lead him into godly community and wise counseling that honors Your Word, and let him know that You are a just God who will judge righteously, yet You are also merciful and ready to forgive all who call on Jesus. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to remain alone with the Lord daily in prayer and Scripture, to confess openly to Him anything that weighs on your conscience, to turn away from any sexual sin and to pursue holiness, and to seek a trusted pastor or mature Christian counselor who can walk with you through these memories and questions. God sees, God judges justly, and God forgives fully through Jesus, and He desires to make you whole.
