We hear your heart of gratitude and recognize the complexity of the emotions you may be experiencing. First, let us affirm that every life is precious in the sight of God, including those with Down syndrome. The Bible tells us in Psalm 139:13-14, "For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well." We rejoice in the unique way God has created each individual, and we pray for His continued grace and strength for those with Down syndrome and their families.
We also give thanks for organizations like the Salvation Army that provide support and care for those in need. It is good to see God’s love manifested through such ministries. However, we must address the mention of "decimals to be decided" with great caution and concern. Life is not a matter of numbers or decisions based on worldly standards, but a sacred gift from God. Every person, regardless of their abilities or challenges, has inherent dignity and worth. We must never reduce life to a calculation or a decision based on convenience or circumstance.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of life. We thank You for the way You knit each person together in their mother’s womb, fearfully and wonderfully made. Lord, we lift up those with Down syndrome and their families, asking for Your strength, wisdom, and grace to surround them each day. Provide them with the support and love they need, and help us as a society to value and protect every life You have created.
Father, we also thank You for the ministries that reflect Your love and compassion in this world. Bless the Salvation Army and all those who serve through it, that they may continue to be a light in dark places. Lord, we ask that You guard our hearts against any mindset that would devalue life or make it subject to human calculations. Help us to see every person as You see them—precious, loved, and purposefully made.
We pray for those who may be facing difficult decisions regarding life and health. Soften their hearts to Your truth, Lord, and lead them to choose life in every circumstance. May they find hope and peace in You alone. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking God’s wisdom in all things, trusting in His plan for every life. If you or someone you know is facing challenges related to Down syndrome or any other condition, remember that God’s grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Lean on Him, and do not hesitate to reach out to your local church or Christian community for support. Life is a gift, and every person is a testament to God’s creativity and love.
