We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear woman and her family in this time of uncertainty and fear. Father God, we know that You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases and binds up our wounds. We ask that You would stretch out Your healing hand upon her, touching her body with Your restorative power. If this is indeed liver cancer, we pray that You would shrink and destroy every cancerous cell, restoring her liver to full health. If it is something else, we ask for clarity and wisdom for the doctors treating her, that they may quickly identify the issue and provide the right treatment.
Lord, we also lift up her daughter—this young woman who is watching her mother suffer. We ask that You would draw near to her, comforting her with Your presence and filling her with peace that surpasses all understanding. Help her to trust in You, even when the path ahead is unclear. We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to take hold, declaring that perfect love casts out fear, and Your love is perfect and unfailing.
We must also address the relationship described here. Scripture is clear that marriage is the only God-ordained context for romantic relationships between a man and a woman. The term "girlfriend" implies a relationship outside of marriage, which is not in alignment with God’s design. We encourage this couple to seek the Lord’s will for their relationship, considering whether marriage is the next step. If they are not yet ready or willing to commit to marriage, we urge them to honor God with their bodies and their relationship, abstaining from sexual intimacy until they are united in holy matrimony. Fornication is a sin, and we must flee from it, as 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns: *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."*
Father, we also want to gently remind this family of the importance of coming to You through the name of Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved or through which we can approach You in prayer. Jesus said in John 14:6, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."* If this dear woman or her family do not yet know Jesus as their Lord and Savior, we pray that this trial would draw them to Him. May they place their trust in Him for salvation and healing, both spiritually and physically.
We declare that Your will be done in this situation, Lord. Whether You choose to heal her miraculously or to walk with her through this valley, we trust that You are good and that Your plans are for her welfare and not for harm. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and let her feel Your presence in a tangible way. We pray for her medical team, that You would grant them wisdom, skill, and compassion as they care for her. Surround this family with Your peace, and let them feel the prayers and support of the body of Christ lifting them up.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
