Hello prayer family! Wow, hasn’t it been great seeing all of the praise going on this week? How great is God for bringing Connie, Netta, Patrick, Barbi, Tacaria and many others back amongst us? My life is still full of daily struggle, but I find my strength in one place and one place alone – God. Today, a couple of things tied together and I felt as though God might be speaking to me, and maybe to you.
As I was holding an infant, she was so tired and weary. But as babies do, she fought and struggled as I swayed side to side with her, determined not to give in to her heavy eyelids. Then, it happened. With one sway, and then another, she surrendered and let peace take over. Her previously scrunched up face and raspy cries disappeared, as the surrender to sleep melted her stress and worry from her face into an angelic, peaceful sight.
Fast forward to driving home from work. On the radio comes “By Your Side” by Tenth Avenue North. It was as if God was highlighting the lyrics for me - Cause I'll be by your side wherever you fall, In the dead of night whenever you call, Please don't fight these hands that are holding you, my hands are holding you. Wake up call! I humbly admit that there have been times lately when I have been fighting God’s hands, just like that beautiful baby, fighting and struggling on my own, avoiding the total surrender that would bring me the most complete, needed peace in my life.
So tonight, I’m asking God to help me surrender. And if any of you feel like you might be in this place in life along with me, I pray for your obedience as well. I believe that God has a plan in place to answer my unspoken request; I must be still and know that He is God, and He is holding me. Another part of the lyrics to that song: Why are you still searching? As if I'm not enough? Again, I admit, sometimes satan starts weaving his web, and tries to make us believe God won’t or can’t help us – NOT TRUE. His word is authoritative, true and necessary, and I ask Him to help me drink it in. I praise Him for all of the victories we have enjoyed, for all of the growth He has brought about, and for all of the miracles that are just around the corner. May God’s peace TRULY be with you – and within you – this day. In Christ – I love you all – KJ
If you’ve never heard the song I mentioned, pull it up and really listen to the lyrics. It’s fabulous.
