Disciple of Prayer
Please pray for surgery on my parathyroid glands this week. I really need my health back. Also please pray for my son who is currently homeless due to addiction and legal problems. Please pray he will take responsibility for his actions and turn to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and salvation. I am in major distress as his mother. Thanks for your prayers.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting you and your son up in prayer, trusting in the Lord’s mercy and healing power. Father God, we ask for Your divine hand to guide the surgeons this week as they operate on the parathyroid glands. Grant them wisdom, precision, and skill, and let Your peace surround this dear one as they place their trust in You. We pray for complete restoration of health, strength, and vitality, that they may experience Your healing touch in every way. "But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds," declares the Lord (Jeremiah 30:17).

Our hearts ache for your son, Father, and we lift him up to You with urgency and love. The pain of watching a child struggle with addiction and homelessness is unimaginable, and we ask that You would break the chains of bondage in his life. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus, and we pray that Your Holy Spirit would convict him of his need for You. Help him to see the destruction his choices have caused and to take full responsibility for his actions. Father, draw him to Yourself with cords of love, that he may turn away from sin and run into the arms of Jesus. "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18). We declare that no addiction is too strong for You, and we pray for a miraculous transformation in his heart and life.

We also pray for you, dear mother, as you carry this burden. The distress you feel is understandable, but we ask that You would fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Strengthen her faith, Lord, and remind her that You are the God who sees, who hears, and who acts on behalf of Your children. Help her to release her son into Your hands, trusting that You love him even more than she does. "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). We pray that she would find comfort in Your presence and hope in Your promises.

Father, we know that salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ. We pray that Your Spirit would open your son’s eyes to the truth of the Gospel, that Jesus died for his sins, rose again, and offers forgiveness and new life to all who believe. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). We pray that he would surrender his life to Christ, repent of his sins, and begin a new journey of faith and restoration.

Lord, we also ask that You would provide for his physical needs, shelter, food, and safety, while he is homeless. Surround him with godly people who can speak truth into his life and point him toward You. We pray for divine appointments and opportunities for him to encounter Your love in tangible ways.

We stand in the gap for this family, believing that God is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. We declare healing, deliverance, and salvation over this situation, trusting in the power of Jesus’ name. Amen.

This is so much to carry all at once, your own health hanging in the balance, and a mother’s heart breaking over a son who is lost right now. We ache with you. It’s right to bring both of these burdens here, and we’re honored to stand alongside you in prayer this week.

It may feel like too many pieces to hold together, but we want to gently point out that when a person hits a crisis like your son is in, homeless, facing legal consequences, addiction unraveling, something can shift. In that kind of upheaval, people often become unusually open to help, to truth, to the grace they’ve been running from. That doesn’t make it easy, and it doesn’t guarantee anything. But it does mean this very hard season could be the backdrop for a genuine turning. We’re praying for God to use this moment to shatter the denial and draw your son to Jesus. In the meantime, one concrete step that might help you breathe a little: look into a support group for families of those struggling with addiction, like Al‑Anon or a faith‑based version such as Celebrate Recovery’s family group. You need a place to be heard without having to fix everything, and you’ll find others who understand this particular ache.

As you go into surgery, we’re praying for steady hands and a smooth recovery. And for your son, for protection, for a safe encounter that opens his eyes, for the courage to own what’s his and reach for the only real hope.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this dear mother right now. You see the surgery ahead, guide the medical team, bring healing, and restore her strength. Quiet her heart with the peace that only You can give. And we pray for her son. Keep him safe, break through every deception, and lead him to true repentance and a living faith in You. Bring the right people across his path, and give this mom wisdom and endurance. In Your name we ask it.

How often the heart of a mother is tossed upon a sea of trouble, yet there is an anchor sure and steadfast. You have laid your burdens before the mercy seat, and that is well, for the Lord hears the cry of the distressed. The ### is a matter for the Great Physician’s hand; commit it unto Him, for in His will your health is secure. Did not He know the frame of the poor prodigal and the pining of his parent? He will not leave you without strength.

Your son, a wanderer in the far country, how that name brings to mind the story our Lord told of the father who watched and waited. The prodigal had resolved, “I will arise and go to my father,” and the resolve became a deed. Oh, that your son might so arise! The chain of addiction and the snare of lawlessness are strong, but the arm of the Lord is not shortened that it cannot save. Have you considered Manasseh? He was the son of godly Hezekiah, yet he bowed to idols, passed his own children through the fire, and filled Jerusalem with wickedness. But when he was in affliction, he humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers, and the Lord was intreated of him. There is salvation for the blackest of sinners, forgiveness for all manner of sin. That is God’s own salvation, planned in infinite wisdom, purchased with the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

The way is plain: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth.” It is not by our own working or worthiness, but by a simple trust in the Person of Christ. “He that believeth on Him shall not be ashamed.” Tell your son, if you can, that the fountain is opened without money and without price. Let him not imagine he must make himself fit or feel some great thing; only let him come with all his rags and ruin, and the Father will meet him. The kiss of reconciliation is ready. It is not a kick he should fear, for the father in the parable was not like earthly parents, he represented our pardoning God. When the son returned, the father kissed him much and made him happy then and there, placing assurance beyond all doubt.

But I know you are in distress, and the enemy would whisper that it is too late, that such a case is hopeless. Do not listen to the voice of the elder brother, who would have kept the prodigal out. Your son may be far off, but the promise is that Jesus is able to save to the uttermost them that come unto God by Him. Therefore, pray without ceasing. Bring him to the cross in your supplications. Who can tell? This very day your household may begin to know the joy of salvation.

Yet remember, your own soul’s safety lies not in your son’s return, but in Christ alone. Lay hold of that salvation which God has set before you, and rejoice in it as your salvation because it is His. So you will be upheld even in this testing hour. The Lord give you peace, and bring your son to the feet of Jesus, where the vilest find cleansing. Look to Him, and He will sustain you.
