Hi my name is ### I'm currently finished with college after a long tough semester. By Gods grace most of papers went well, however theres one that I fear. Right now my grades are not in a good place and if this one goes really bad that'll make it even worse. I want to petition for your prayers and support. My quotation is Romans 15:1. We hear your heart, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in this moment of anxiety over your final paper. You have already acknowledged God’s grace in carrying you through this long and difficult semester, and that is no small thing. The fear of failure can weigh heavily, but we are reminded that our strength does not come from our own efforts alone, it comes from the Lord, who upholds us in every trial.

Your choice of Romans 15:1 is fitting: "Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves." This verse calls us to lean on one another in faith, and so we do. We also recall Philippians 4:6-7, which says, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." You have already taken the right step by bringing this burden to prayer, and we join you in lifting it before the throne of grace.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who has labored through this semester by Your sustaining grace. Lord, You see the weight of this final assignment and the fear that accompanies it. We ask that You would calm their heart and steady their mind, that they may approach this task with clarity and confidence in You. Strengthen their focus, grant them wisdom in their words, and let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their thoughts. Father, we also pray for favor in the eyes of those who will review this work, may they see the effort, the growth, and the sincerity behind it. If this grade is not what is hoped for, we ask that You would still work all things together for good, for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Remind them that their worth is not defined by a single grade, but by the finished work of Christ on the cross. Fill them with hope, perseverance, and trust in Your perfect plan. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

We also want to encourage you with this truth: God is not surprised by this moment. He has been with you every step of this semester, and He will not abandon you now. Even if the outcome is not what you desire, He remains faithful. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." This is not just about a grade, it is about learning to trust God in every season, even the uncertain ones.

If fear or self-doubt creeps in, combat it with the truth of Scripture. 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." You are not alone in this. We are praying for you, and more importantly, the Holy Spirit is interceding for you with groanings too deep for words (Romans 8:26).

Finally, we want to gently remind you that our ultimate hope is not in academic success, but in Christ. If you have not already, we encourage you to examine your heart and ensure that your faith is firmly rooted in Him. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." It is only through His name that we have access to God, and it is only through His sacrifice that we are saved. If you have never surrendered your life to Him, we invite you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in His resurrection, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9).

You are not defined by this paper or this grade. You are defined by the love of Christ, who gave Himself for you. Press on, dear one. God is with you.

That move doesn’t ignore the fear; it just refuses to let the fear be the only voice you tune into.

As you go through the next days, remember that your worth is not written in a gradebook. God knows your effort, He sees your trust in Him, and He is with you right now, in this very space between hope and uncertainty.

Lord Jesus, thank You for carrying our friend through a grueling semester and for the good reports so far. Please quiet the anxious thoughts about this one remaining paper. Give a steady, deep-down peace that goes beyond simply getting the result they want. Help them rest in Your love, knowing that their future is safe in Your hands. And according to Your will, we ask for a favorable outcome that brings relief and confidence. In the waiting, let them feel Your presence close and kind. In Your name, amen.

There is a fear that is right and good: the fear of sinning against God, the fear of grieving so tender a Father. But that fear which makes you dread a poor mark upon an earthly paper, and to speak of it as your last hope, this is a fear that may easily dishonour Christ if it be not cast upon Him. When you are driven to the end of all confidence in yourself, that is a blessed moment indeed. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Saviour of such as you. The rope of mercy is cast even to you; lay hold of it.

This valley of trouble, this anxiety over your grades, may be to you as the valley of Achor, a door of hope. But what manner of trouble is it? If it is trouble on account of sin, and it awakens you to see your own insufficiency and fly to Christ alone, then it is a door of hope. Yet a door of hope is of no use if you will not pass through it, and if it seems shut, your first duty is to wait till it be opened. You are a prisoner of hope. Hear the gracious word: "Turn you to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope." Even this day He declares that He will render double unto you.

Do not be of a doubtful mind, ever hoping and hopping but never getting beyond. Beware of all presumption, but equally beware of that slavish fear which shrinks from trusting God with the smallest affairs of daily life. The chief concern is that your soul is right in the sight of God. When a man is reconciled through the blood of the everlasting covenant, what are examinations to him? Live each day as if it were to be your last day, serving God with all your might. Then, pass or fail by the world’s measure, your standing before God is secure.

Grace does not begin half-way down the alphabet; it is the Alpha of our hope. Out of His own heart the thought has come, and His plans are workable, suited to our weakness. Flee, then, to the stronghold of Christ’s finished work. The blood of the covenant has sent forth the prisoner from the pit wherein is no water. There, close beside you, is the Castle of Refuge. Run into it without delay. And if you have once tasted that the Lord is gracious, let past enjoyments be a door of hope to you now; yet do not rest in them, Christ Himself must come to you through them. May He grant you a good hope through believing, an anchor of the soul both sure and steadfast, so that you may no longer fear what tomorrow brings, but rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

The fear that agitates your soul over this one exam is like a wind falling upon a slackened sail: it would have no power if your mind were braced tight with hope. Why do you dread a mere grade, which can harm only the body's prospects, but cannot touch the soul? Our Lord commands, “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul.” This earthly anxiety is a scourge of the devil, keeping you fixed to the clay of worldly cares. You toil for a master who gives only fleeting wages, and you are scourged by fear far more grievously than any stripes. Yet if you groan and look up to God, He will send His own Word and compunction, and free you from this bitter slavery.

You quote Romans 15:1, bidding the strong bear with the failings of the weak. If you are weak in faith, fearing this outcome, then we bear you up in prayer. But you also must bear your own soul with patience. For patience produces hope, and hope patience, and both are nourished by the Scriptures. Pray not with a slack soul, but with intense earnestness, stretching forth your mind toward Heaven as with cords. Seek not more than what is truly necessary; for the beauty of a good grade quickly fades, but the beauty of a soul adorned with trust in God is ever blooming. Even if the result be not as you wish, you are not the worse in the kingdom of God. Cast out this small fear by a greater and saving fear: fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell, and hasten toward the eternal prize. Let your sail be tight with the hope of things to come, and the energy of the Spirit will carry you through. We join our prayers with yours, but let your last hope be firmly set on Christ alone, not on the uncertain outcome of any test.
