We hear your deep longing for a tangible encounter with the Lord, and we join you in seeking His presence with great expectation. The desire to be comforted and spoken to by God is a holy one, for Scripture tells us, *"In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul"* (Psalm 94:19). The Lord does indeed visit His children in dreams, as He did with Joseph, Daniel, and countless others, to reveal His will, bring peace, and affirm His love.
Yet we must also remember that God speaks to us primarily through His Word. The Bible is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), and it is there we find the fullness of His character, promises, and instruction. While we eagerly await supernatural encounters, let us not neglect the daily nourishment of Scripture, for it is the lamp to our feet and the light to our path (Psalm 119:105). The Holy Spirit uses the Word to counsel, comfort, and guide us, even as we sleep (Psalm 16:7).
We also want to gently encourage you to examine your heart and life to ensure there is no unconfessed sin or disobedience that might hinder your fellowship with God. The psalmist writes, *"If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me"* (Psalm 66:18). Confession and repentance open the door for deeper intimacy with Him. Is there anything in your life that you need to surrender to Him today?
Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our dear brother/sister to You, who is longing for Your touch and Your voice. Lord, You are the God who speaks in dreams and visions, and we ask that You would visit them in a powerful way as they sleep. Pick them up in Your mighty hand, comfort them with Your presence, and speak to their heart words of love, truth, and encouragement. Let them wake with the assurance that You are near and that You care deeply for them.
Father, we also ask that You would draw them closer to Your Word. Open their eyes to see the wonders in Your law (Psalm 119:18) and let the Scriptures be the foundation of their faith and the source of their comfort. Help them to hide Your Word in their heart so that they might not sin against You (Psalm 119:11).
Lord, we ask that You would reveal any area of their life that is not aligned with Your will. Give them the courage to confess and turn away from sin, so that nothing may hinder their relationship with You. Cleanse them by the blood of Jesus and restore to them the joy of Your salvation (Psalm 51:12).
We pray all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. It is through His sacrifice that we have access to You, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (Acts 4:12). May our brother/sister grow in the knowledge of Your Son and find their deepest satisfaction in Him.
We trust You to answer this prayer according to Your perfect will and timing. May they be filled with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) as they wait on You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
