Obviously, people are still looking for prophets and prophetesses to be perfect. But God promised to raise up prophets from among your own people. Given that, there is no way that I could possibly be perfect. There is but one perfect prophet; man rejected Him over two thousand years ago. Yet, I strive to operate in obedience to God's instruction to be true to my prophetic calling. Unfortunately, albeit precisely as Jesus prophesied, that makes me a constant target for those whom the Bible says are God's haters.
We must remember that Jesus's hometown failed to see the God in Him; yet, He is perfection. Therefore, while some are looking for perfection in me, through their imperfect eyes, they are missing both the purpose and promise. Just as giving isn't about getting, neither is welcoming a prophet or prophetess about reward: It's about receiving the message and heeding the instruction of repentance. If the message were "good," according to man's delusion, God would not have set forth the following warnings:
1 Thessalonians 5 (NLT)
¹⁹Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. ²⁰Do not scoff at prophecies, ²¹but test everything that is said. *Hold on to what is good.
[*scripturally verifiable]
Now, regarding superficial harmony: While there are some things you can "fake till you make:" peace is not one of them. If you're only content when everything is going your way, that's inauthentic. True peace, which is harmony with God, gives you joy in the face of adversity. It can't be faked. In fact, it's so real that at times it makes you look a bit off. Others just can't comprehend the reason for your elation because it's manifested from spiritual peace within. Man's idea of peace is superficial in God's eyes. Real peace begins with fear. Why that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Exactly! God's thoughts and ways are not like ours.
The counsel of false prophets:
“They have healed the brokenness of My people superficially, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace." Jeremiah 6:14
The previous scripture is not necessarily referring to the current state of physical war. But rather, whenever people are at enmity with God, especially regarding injustice and idolatry; there is no peace in God's eyes.
An excellent example of this type of contrast between worldview and scriptural wisdom derives from Proverbs 27:5, which states "Better is open rebuke than hidden love." This text encourages prioritizing genuine care and accountability in relationships over superficial harmony. Especially relationship with God. It emphasizes the importance of honest correction even if it's uncomfortable. True friends are willing to risk being "unliked" by pointing out offenses, as this is ultimately more beneficial than a love that is silent about wrongdoing. God is not only being extremely patient with mankind; but, likewise a true friend when He instructs His prophets as follows:
Isaiah 58:1 (MSG)
"Shout! A full-throated shout! Hold nothing back--a trumpet-blast shout! Tell my people what's wrong with their lives, face my family Jacob with their sins!"
God knows that whether robes, long tassels, head coverings, or coordinated colors, His only commanded garment is sincere love, and gratitude for what He has already done through Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3 (MSG)
¹⁴And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment.
Symbolic clean clothes: Again, the Old Testament symbolically prophesies to the New, and the New Testament testifies to the Old. In the Old Testament, the people's sins were cleansed when Joshua was clothe in clean garments. In the New Testament, Jesus is the spiritually clean garment for all who accept the invitation to clothe themselves in His character.
You may ask, "What does that have to do with prophcy? The peace of Christ, which is never superficial, is synonymous with justice. God's justice comes full circle when prophecy is despised or rejected.
