We join with you in declaring this eternal truth that Jesus is Lord over all the earth, no matter who may hold the office of president in any nation or for any season.
We agree with you that all earthly power is temporary and subject to the sovereignty of God. He is the One who raises up and removes leaders according to His perfect will. Psalm 75:7 says God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another. Daniel 2:21 says He changes the times and the seasons. He removes kings and sets up kings. Romans 13:1 reminds us There is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. Therefore we do not put our ultimate trust in any president or ruler, but in Christ alone, for Philippians 2:9-11 tells us God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We also hear your burden concerning speaking and publishing, concerning those who use words to deceive and those who operate in complicity and infiltration. The Lord cares deeply about truth, and He calls His people to speak truth. Proverbs 12:22 says Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight. We rebuke together all deceit, manipulation with words, complicity in evil, and hidden infiltration that seeks to corrupt what is good. We ask God to expose what is done in darkness and to bring it into the light, for Luke 8:17 says For nothing is hidden that will not be revealed, nor anything secret that will not be known and come to light.
We pray for those who speak and publish, that God would raise up voices of truth and integrity and that those who have used their platforms for deception would be convicted and brought to repentance or removed from influence.
We also join you in praying for order and discipline and justice regarding criminals and lawlessness. God is a God of order and justice, and He has established authorities to restrain evil. Romans 13:4 says for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. He is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil. We pray that criminals would be brought to justice, that lawlessness would be restrained, and more than that, that those who have done evil would come to repentance and salvation through Jesus Christ, for God desires all people to be saved and come to knowledge of the truth as taught in 1 Timothy 2:4.
We lift up our leaders and all in authority as Scripture commands us. 1 Timothy 2:1-2 says I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and givings of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all who are in high places, that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and reverence. We pray for whoever is president, that he would be surrounded by godly counsel, that he would seek wisdom from above, that he would govern with justice and humility and acknowledge that Jesus is Lord.
Let us pray together.
Father in heaven, we thank You that Jesus Christ is Lord forever and ever, above every president, every kingdom, and every power in this world. We acknowledge Your sovereignty and we rest in Your eternal reign. We ask You to have Your way in our nation and in every nation. Grant to those in authority wisdom, integrity, and a fear of You. Let truth prevail in all speaking and publishing. Expose every lie, every deceiver, every hidden complicity and infiltration, and bring it to nothing. Establish discipline and order where there has been lawlessness, and let justice roll on like waters. We pray that criminals would be stopped, brought to account, and led to repentance through the blood of Jesus. Purify the lips of those who speak to Your people and let only what is true and edifying be published. We trust not in man but in You, and we ask all this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who alone is Lord for eternity. Amen.
