Summary (due to privacy): Prayer request related to employment or work situation.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about what you have carried from that job and what has continued afterward. Being bullied at work is painful in itself, and when rumors follow you even after you have left, and come from someone you were once close to, the wound goes even deeper. Choosing to cut off contact is an understandable step to protect your heart and to find space to heal, and God sees both the hurt you have experienced and the care you are trying to take now.

Scripture gives us a beautiful picture of how deeply Jesus understands this kind of pain. Matthew points back to Isaiah chapter 53 verse 4, where it says He has borne our griefs and carried our infirmities, and Matthew shows that Jesus fulfilled this not only in forgiving sin but in healing sickness and brokenness. The Gospels show Him healing a man with leprosy, healing the servant of a centurion with just a word, healing Peter's mother in law, and then in the evening healing multitudes who were brought to Him. He has power over sickness and infirmity, power over the turmoil around us, and power over the spiritual forces that stir up strife. He went about doing good, healing all kinds of sickness and disease, and teaching us to love one another, to be merciful, to forgive, and not to live in strife.

Healing in the Bible is not limited to one pattern. Sometimes Jesus touched someone, sometimes He only spoke a word from a distance, sometimes He visited a home, sometimes the healing was instant and sometimes it was gradual, as with the man at Bethsaida who saw gradually and clearly only after a second touch. That reminds us that gradual healing is still truly divine. God has built healing processes into our bodies and into our minds and emotions, and He works through those processes. He heals physical illness, and He also heals the scars and wounds left in our thoughts and emotions when we have been demeaned or betrayed. Both are His work.

There is much about healing we do not fully understand, and why some wounds lift quickly and others take time is not always clear. Even the apostle Paul prayed repeatedly about his thorn in the flesh and learned that God in His wisdom did not remove it as Paul had asked, yet God gave sustaining grace. This does not mean God is unable or unwilling to heal today. He is able, and healing is still His heart for His people, but it is not something worked up by frenzy or display. It comes from quiet trust in Jesus who bore our pain on the cross, whose body was broken for us, and who is present to restore us in His own way and time.

In your situation, it is right to bring the whole burden to Him and to ask Him to do that restoring work in you. You do not need to strive to defend yourself against every rumor or repay hurt for hurt. Jesus taught a better way, to do good, to forgive as we have been forgiven, to be merciful, and to leave vindication in God's hands. He knows the truth about what was said and done, and He is your defender.

I am praying for you, that the Lord will heal the hurt left by bullying and by betrayal, that He will calm the anxiety and painful memories and bring peace to your mind and heart, whether that comes instantly or gradually. I pray He will guard your reputation and shut down the harm of untrue words, that He will surround you with healthy relationships, and that He will open the right door for work where you are respected and can use your gifts in peace. Ask Him daily to help you release bitterness and to fill you with His mercy and strength, trusting that the One who bore your griefs is faithful to make you whole again.
