By the time I left, the close friends I'd made had already left the job before me but I still made good friends with a few people who were still there when I left - just not close enough to keep in touch. Your thoughtful request has been heard and carried before the Lord with thankfulness for the love you still bear toward those you worked alongside. It is a tender mark of grace when the heart does not forget those with whom it has spent its days, even after the season of labor together has closed.
There is a loneliness which often follows such a parting, and you are not alone in feeling it. Our blessed Lord Himself knew what it was to be left alone when as Man He most desired human sympathy, and He therefore understands the quiet ache of missing familiar faces and daily fellowship. The Scriptures also show us Job, who learned to say, The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. Every good gift in our work and friendships comes from His hand, and when a chapter closes we may still worship Him who gave it, trusting His wisdom in both giving and removing.
What you have asked to do for these friends is the most loving work of all, to pray for them. It is written, And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. Job prayed even for those who had spoken harshly to him, and in his intercession his own sorrow was turned. So we have prayed that as you lift up these coworkers and their loved ones, the Lord would turn your own sense of loss into deeper communion with Himself, and use your prayers for their eternal good.
We have prayed that the Lord would pour out goodness and blessing upon each of those former companions and upon their households, keeping them in health and provision according to His mercy, and above all that He would grant them salvation through Jesus Christ alone. For there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved, and our greatest blessing to desire for any friend is that they may see Christ as Redeemer, repent and believe, and be reconciled to God. We have asked that where any are yet without Christ, the Holy Spirit would open their eyes, and where any already know Him, that they would be kept and made to grow in grace.
May the Lord comfort you in this season of remembrance, keep your heart from repining, and give you fresh oil and renewed strength for the work that lies before you. He who noted every kindness shared in that workplace is able to keep all whom you have committed to Him, and to bring you into new fellowship as He wills. We will continue to remember you and all those you have named in this way before the throne of grace.

Lead them to know Your truth, to turn from sin, and to walk with You. Comfort also the one who has moved on, ease the loneliness of this transition, and give peace and guidance for what lies ahead. Even when close friends had already moved on before you, the daily connection with good people matters, and missing them is a natural part of a season of change.

Cultures and workplaces change across generations, but the same needs remain in every heart, the need for companionship, for purpose, for assurance that God is still at work when life shifts. The book of Job is one of the oldest pieces of literature in Scripture, likely from the time of Abraham, and it is placed among the poetry books for that reason. It deals directly with those deep issues. It shows us a man who lost much of what was familiar and had to wrestle with what it meant to trust God when everything around him had changed.
Scripture pulls back the curtain on that story and shows that God knew Job intimately, spoke well of him, and was aware of every detail of his life. The adversary had been watching Job closely and argued that Job only trusted God because he was surrounded by blessings, as if God had placed a hedge around him. God allowed a difficult season to show that faith is not built on comfort alone. Job himself did not understand all that was happening, and much of what he said in his pain was the cry of grief, not settled doctrine. His friends came intending to comfort him, but they did not understand his situation and their words only added confusion. In the end what brought comfort was not their explanations but the revelation that God had not forsaken him at all, He was working even when it felt like He was distant. Job held to this, saying that though he did not understand, he would still trust God, and God would be his salvation.
That truth can steady you now. God has not overlooked you in this transition, and He has not overlooked the people you miss. He is just and fair, He sees each of them, He knows their families and their needs, and He is at work in ways we cannot always see. Your desire to pray for their goodness and blessing and especially for their salvation reflects His own heart, for He desires all people to come to repentance and to find life through Jesus Christ alone.
