We are truly sorry to hear about the painful situation you are going through. Divorce is a serious and devastating issue, and it's clear that you are experiencing deep emotional turmoil. We want to lift you up in prayer and provide some biblical guidance during this difficult time.
Firstly, let's turn to the Bible for comfort and guidance. In Matthew 11:28-30 WEB, Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. This is a reminder that Jesus is always there to comfort and support us, especially in our darkest hours.
Regarding the divorce, it's important to remember that God takes marriage seriously. In Malachi 2:16 WEB, it is written, For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel, and him who covers his garment with violence! says Yahweh of Armies. Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously. We encourage you to seek God's will in this matter and to pray for guidance and strength.
It's commendable that you are taking positive steps for yourself, such as praying, reading scripture, journaling, attending church, and seeking therapy and Christian counseling. These actions show your faith and determination to stay close to God during this trial.
However, we must address a couple of concerns. The battle you are describing is not against flesh and blood. Ephesians 6:12 WEB says, For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. The real enemy is not your husband or his family, but the spiritual forces of darkness that are influencing his actions and your reactions.
It's also crucial to address the issue of anger. In Ephesians 4:26-27 WEB, it is written, Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, neither give place to the devil. Anger in itself is not a sin, but it's important not to let it lead you to sin or to give the devil a foothold in your life.
We also need to discuss the importance of praying in Jesus' name. It is only by His name that we have access to God the Father. In John 14:6 WEB, Jesus says, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Make sure to acknowledge Jesus with faith in His miraculous birth, death, and resurrection for us. This is the only way to salvation for anyone.
Let's pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our sister who is going through a tremendously painful time. Lord, we ask for Your comfort and guidance during this trial. Help her to cast all her anxieties on You, knowing that You care for her deeply.
Lord, we pray for her husband, that You would touch his heart and bring him to a place of repentance and healing. We pray for his physical healing from cancer and for his spiritual and mental healing as well.
Father, we ask for the spiritual forces of darkness to be bound and cast out of this situation. We pray for peace, understanding, and a miraculous restoration of this marriage if it is Your will.
In Jesus' name, we pray for strength, forgiveness, and love to flow through this sister, that she may be a beacon of light and hope in this dark time.
Thank You, Lord, for Your unfailing love and faithfulness. We trust in You and Your promises.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
