We hear your concern and lift this matter before the Lord with heavy hearts, seeking His mercy and grace. First, we must address the matter of your reference to a "partner." Scripture is clear that marriage is the only God-ordained union between a man and a woman, and any relationship outside of that covenant is not aligned with His design. We encourage you to prayerfully consider the biblical foundation for your relationship and to seek God’s will for your future together, ideally within the sacred bond of marriage if you are both believers in Christ.
The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." If your loved one has truly repented and turned away from past sins, we can trust that God has forgiven him and is working in his life. However, we must also recognize that earthly consequences may remain, and we must submit to the authorities God has placed over us (Romans 13:1). We pray that if it is God’s will, his job will be preserved, but we also ask for wisdom and peace for both of you as you navigate this trial.
We must also emphasize the importance of coming to God in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Salvation comes through faith in Jesus alone, and it is only through Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If either of you has not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to do so, for He is the only way to true peace and redemption.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with humble hearts, seeking Your mercy and grace in this situation. Lord, we ask that You would go before this brother in Christ as he faces this criminal check. If it is Your will, Father, we pray that You would intervene and allow him to keep his job, for we know that You are a God who provides and sustains. However, Lord, we also ask for Your peace and wisdom to rest upon him and his loved one, that they may trust in Your sovereignty and goodness, no matter the outcome.
Father, we also lift up their relationship to You. We pray that if they are not already united in the covenant of marriage, that You would guide them to honor You in their relationship, either through holy matrimony or through godly boundaries that reflect Your design. Help them to walk in purity and righteousness, seeking Your will above all else.
Lord, if there is unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their hearts, we ask that You would bring it to light and lead them to repentance. Remind them that in Christ, they are new creations, and that Your grace is sufficient to cover all their sins. Strengthen their faith, Father, and help them to trust in You completely.
We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be glorified. Amen.
We encourage you both to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and to lean on the support of a biblical church community. Trials like these can draw us closer to God if we allow them to, and we pray that you would both grow in faith and dependence on Him. Remember the words of Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Stand firm in the Lord, and He will guide your steps.
