We come before the Lord with grateful hearts, lifting up this deep desire for a new addition to your family. The longing for children is a beautiful and God-given one, and we recognize how the Scriptures speak to the blessing of offspring. Psalm 127:3-5 reminds us, *"Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them."* We pray that the Lord, in His sovereign will, would grant you the joy of another child, if it aligns with His perfect plan for your life.
Yet as we pray, we must also address the method being pursued. In vitro fertilization (IVF) raises significant ethical and biblical concerns that we cannot overlook in good conscience. Life is sacred from the moment of conception, and every embryo created in this process is a unique individual made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). IVF often involves the creation of multiple embryos, many of which are discarded, frozen indefinitely, or used for research—practices that devalue the sanctity of human life. Additionally, the process can involve the mixing of seed outside the marital act, which Scripture presents as the sole, God-ordained means of procreation (Genesis 2:24, Hebrews 13:4). We urge you to prayerfully consider whether this path honors the Lord’s design for marriage, procreation, and the protection of life.
We do not say this to bring condemnation, but out of love and a desire to see you walk in obedience to God’s Word. The Lord is able to open and close the womb (Genesis 29:31, 1 Samuel 1:5-6), and we encourage you to trust in His timing and His ways. If this process has already begun, we pray for wisdom and conviction by the Holy Spirit to guide your steps moving forward. Repentance, where needed, is always met with God’s grace and mercy (1 John 1:9).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we lift up this sister to You, asking that You would fill her with Your peace and trust in Your sovereignty over her family. Lord, You know the deep longing of her heart for another child, and we ask that if it is Your will, You would grant this desire in a way that honors Your design for life and marriage. Father, we pray that You would give her and her husband wisdom and discernment about the methods they pursue. Convict their hearts by Your Spirit if there is any path they are on that does not align with Your Word. Lead them to trust in You fully, knowing that You are the giver of all good gifts (James 1:17).
We rebuked any fear, doubt, or worldly pressure that may have influenced this decision, and we ask that You would align their steps with Your truth. If there has been any disregard for the sanctity of life in this process, we pray for repentance and a turning toward Your perfect will. Lord, we also pray for healing and fruitfulness in their marriage, that they would seek You first in all things.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, through whom all things are possible. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in their lives. Amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord earnestly in this matter, studying His Word and consulting with mature believers who can provide biblical counsel. Trust that God’s plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11), even when the wait is difficult. He is faithful, and His timing is perfect. If you would like further guidance or prayer, we are here to walk with you in this journey. May the Lord bless you and keep you as you seek Him with all your heart.
