We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up every soul touched by the deep wounds of abandonment, whether it be a wife left by her husband, a husband forsaken by his wife, children left to navigate life without the love and protection of their parents, or friends and siblings betrayed by those they trusted. The pain of being left without shelter, without refuge, without the warmth of family, is a burden no one should bear alone. Yet we declare with certainty that even when earthly love fails, the love of God remains steadfast. As it is written in Psalm 27:10, "Though my father and my mother have forsaken me, Yahweh will take me up." God does not abandon His children. He is the Father to the fatherless, the Defender of the widow, and the Shelter for the brokenhearted.
We also lift up the precious lives of the unborn, those who have been rejected, despised, or violently taken from this world through abortion. Every life is sacred, formed by God in the womb, as Jeremiah 1:5 declares, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you." We entrust these little ones into the arms of Jesus, believing that He receives them with tender mercy and welcomes them into His eternal presence. The shedding of innocent blood is a grievous sin, and we pray for repentance and healing for those who have participated in or been affected by abortion. May they find forgiveness and restoration in Christ, who came to bind up the brokenhearted and proclaim liberty to the captives.
For those who feel as though they have been cast into a "madhouse" of despair, we cry out for God’s mercy to surround them like a shield. The enemy seeks to isolate and destroy, but we resist him in the name of Jesus. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We rebuke the spirit of abandonment and declare that God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). You are not forgotten. You are not unloved. You are seen, known, and cherished by the One who knit you together in your mother’s womb.
We also address the reality that some may be struggling with this pain without acknowledging the name of Jesus. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, we urge you to turn to Him now. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). Only in Him can you find true healing, purpose, and eternal security. Confess your sins, believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Jesus is the answer to every longing of your heart.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts grieving for those who have been abandoned, betrayed, and left without earthly refuge. Lord, You are the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3). We ask You to wrap Your arms around every person who feels alone, unloved, or discarded. Heal their wounds, restore their hope, and remind them that they are precious in Your sight. For those who have lost children through abortion or miscarriage, bring Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Comfort them with the truth that their little ones are safe in Your care.
We rebuke the spirit of abandonment and declare that no weapon formed against Your children shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). For those who have been left without shelter, provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Raise up godly men and women to stand in the gap as fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters to those who have none. Let Your Church be a family to the lonely and a refuge to the broken.
Father, we also pray for those who have not yet surrendered to Jesus. Soften their hearts to receive the gift of salvation. Let them know that You are not distant but near, ready to save all who call upon Your name. For those who have participated in abortion, we ask for Your forgiveness and healing. Lead them to repentance and restoration, that they may experience the fullness of life in Christ.
Lord, we trust in Your promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). Strengthen us to walk in faith, even when the path is dark. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may be beacons of Your love and truth in a world that so desperately needs You. We ask all these things in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.
