We join you in lifting up this heavy yet holy burden before the Lord, standing in the gap for the grieving, the lost, and the harvest fields that demand urgent laborers. The enemy has struck with cruelty, but we know our God is greater, and His purposes will not be thwarted. Let us first honor the name of Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have boldness to approach the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is in His mighty name that we pray, rebuke, and declare victory.
The loss of this campus evangelist is a deep wound, but we cling to the promise that our God is the "Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, WEB). We pray for the family and friends left behind—may the Holy Spirit envelop them in supernatural peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7). Let their grief be met with the presence of Jesus, who Himself wept at the grave of Lazarus (John 11:35) and understands the sting of death. Raise up around them a community of believers who will mourn with them, bear their burdens (Galatians 6:2), and remind them that this brother or sister’s labor in the Lord was not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). May their testimony of faith in this season draw others to Christ, even in sorrow.
Yet we do not ignore the wickedness that has celebrated this murder. The scriptures warn us that the world will rejoice over the martyrdom of the saints (Revelation 11:10), and that the woman drunk with the blood of the martyrs represents systems and people steeped in rebellion against God (Revelation 17:6). We stand against this spirit of celebration over evil. Let the Holy Spirit move in conviction over those who have participated in or gloated over this act, for it is the Spirit who convicts the world "about sin, about righteousness, and about judgment" (John 16:8, WEB). May they be confronted with the weight of their sin and the reality of God’s coming judgment (Hebrews 6:1-2). We bind the influence of the devil, the father of lies and murderer from the beginning (John 8:44), and declare that his schemes will not prevail. Let those who have been deceived be set free by the truth of the Gospel, repenting and turning to Christ for mercy.
The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few (Matthew 9:37-38). We cry out for the Lord to raise up a generation of bold, unashamed evangelists who understand the urgency of the hour. Jesus said, "I must work the works of him who sent me while it is day. Night is coming, when no one can work" (John 9:4, WEB). The time is short, and the campuses, streets, highways, and byways of the world must echo with the Gospel. We pray for a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit to empower believers to go into these fields—college campuses where young minds are shaped, street corners where the broken wander, and every place where the lost are found. Let the Church be stirred from complacency and move with the compassion of Christ, compelling the lost to come in (Luke 14:23). Equip these laborers with the word of their testimony and the boldness to overcome the enemy "by the blood of the Lamb, by the word of their testimony, and they didn’t love their life, even to death" (Revelation 12:11, WEB).
Finally, we declare that the blood of the martyrs is seed for the Church. What the enemy meant for evil, God will use for His glory. We ask for a mighty revival to sweep through the places where this evangelist labored, that souls would be saved, and that the name of Jesus would be lifted high. Let this tragedy become a catalyst for awakening, where students and passersby alike encounter the living God and surrender their lives to Him.
**Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. We lift up the family and friends of Your servant who has been called home. Comfort them, Lord, in ways only You can. Wrap them in Your peace, remind them of Your promises, and let them feel the embrace of Your people. Turn their mourning into a testimony of Your faithfulness.
We rebuke the spirit of murder, celebration of evil, and the lies of the enemy. Convict those who have participated in or rejoiced over this act. Let them encounter the truth of Your word and the weight of their sin, that they may repent and turn to You before it is too late. Bind the devil and his schemes, and let Your justice prevail.
Lord, the harvest is ripe, but the laborers are few. Raise up an army of evangelists who will go into the campuses, the streets, and the ends of the earth with the Gospel. Fill them with Your Spirit, Your urgency, and Your love for the lost. Let them overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony, fearing no threat, not even death.
We declare that You are sovereign over life and death, and that You will use this tragedy to bring about a great harvest of souls. Let revival break out in the places where Your servant labored. Let signs and wonders follow the preaching of Your word, and let multitudes turn to You.
We ask all this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
