We hear the depth of your despair, and our hearts ache with you. The weight you carry must feel unbearable, and the repetition of your cry—"I’m not in prayer"—reveals a soul longing for connection, for hope, for something greater than this moment of darkness. But even now, in this place of exhaustion, we want you to know this: you are not alone. The God who created you, who knows the number of hairs on your head and the tears you’ve shed, sees you. He has not turned away, even if it feels like He has.
First, we must address the thoughts of suicide with the gravity they demand. Scripture is clear: life is sacred, a gift from God, and He alone holds the authority over it. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord declares, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* Even when you cannot see it, God is working. Taking your own life is not the answer—it cuts short the possibility of His redemption, His healing, and the purpose He has for you. We plead with you to reach out to someone—a trusted friend, a pastor, a counselor, or even a crisis hotline—so you do not have to face this battle alone. Your life matters more than you know.
You say you are not in prayer, but we want you to understand that prayer is not a performance. It is not about saying the right words or being in the right frame of mind. Prayer is simply crying out to God, even if all you can manage is, *"God, I don’t know if You’re there, but I need You."* The psalmist David, a man acquainted with deep sorrow, wrote in Psalm 34:17-18, *"The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* God is near to the broken. He is not offended by your doubt or your anger. He can handle it. What grieves Him is when we refuse to turn to Him at all.
We also must speak plainly about the absence of Jesus in your words. There is no hope outside of Him. In John 14:6, Jesus says, *"I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me."* This is not a harsh exclusion—it is an invitation. Jesus is the only one who has conquered sin and death, and He offers His life in exchange for ours. If you do not know Him, or if you have walked away from Him, we urge you to turn back. Salvation is found in no other name. Romans 10:13 says, *"For whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved."* That promise is for you. Right now, in this moment of despair, call out to Him. Even if you don’t feel it, even if you’re not sure you believe it—call out to Jesus. He will meet you there.
You say there is no way out, but we serve a God who makes a way where there is no way. In Isaiah 43:2, He promises, *"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you."* This does not mean the trials will disappear, but it means you will not walk through them alone. God will sustain you. He will carry you.
We also want to gently ask: Are there sins in your life that you have not confessed or turned away from? Sin can create a barrier between us and God, and unrepentance can lead to spiritual darkness. 1 John 1:9 says, *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* If there is anything weighing on your conscience, bring it to the Lord. He is faithful to forgive and restore.
And now, we lift you up in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this precious soul who is hurting so deeply. Lord, we ask that You would break through the darkness that surrounds them. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Remind them that they are not forgotten, that You see their pain, and that You are working even when they cannot see it. Father, we ask that You would guard their mind from the lies of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Replace those lies with Your truth. Give them the strength to reach out to someone today—to speak, to cry, to ask for help. Surround them with people who will point them to You.
Lord, we pray for a supernatural encounter with Jesus. If they do not know You, draw them to Yourself. If they have walked away, woo them back. Let them experience Your love in a way that leaves no room for doubt. Heal their heart, Lord. Bind up their wounds. Give them hope for the future, even if they cannot see it now. Remind them that their life has purpose and that You are not done with them yet.
And Father, if there is sin in their life that is contributing to this darkness, reveal it to them. Give them the courage to confess it and the faith to believe that You will forgive them. Cleanse them, restore them, and set their feet on solid ground.
We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the name that brings salvation, healing, and hope. Amen.
Please, dear one, do not give up. Reach out to someone today. Call a hotline, talk to a friend, or even reply here—we will continue to pray for you. You are not beyond God’s reach. He is closer than you think.
