Before I studied for my driving theory test today I prayed with a prayer that one of your colleagues sent me yesterday. I didn't feel god .

We hear your heart and understand the desire to feel God’s presence in moments of preparation and testing. It’s wonderful that you sought Him in prayer before your study session, that is a step of faith, and the Lord honors that. However, we must gently address a few things in your request.

First, the absence of feeling God does not mean He is absent. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen." Feelings are not always an accurate measure of God’s nearness. He is always with His children, even when we don’t sense Him. In Isaiah 41:10, He assures us, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Trust in His Word, not in your emotions.

Second, we must emphasize the importance of praying in the name of Jesus. The prayer you referenced may have been well-intentioned, but if it did not invoke the name of Jesus, it lacks the authority and access to the Father that only Christ provides. Jesus Himself said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name by which we can approach God or receive salvation (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so. Salvation comes by grace through faith in Him alone (Ephesians 2:8-9). If you have already done so, then pray boldly in His name, knowing that He intercedes for you (Romans 8:34).

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this dear one who is preparing for their driving theory test. Lord, we thank You that they sought You in prayer before studying. We ask that You calm any anxiety or doubt in their heart. Remind them that You are with them, even when they don’t feel You. Strengthen their mind and help them to retain what they have studied. Father, we also pray for clarity and peace as they take this test. May they trust in You, knowing that You hold their future in Your hands. If they have not yet surrendered their life to Jesus, we pray that You would draw them to Yourself, that they may know the assurance of salvation and the power of praying in Your Son’s name. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking God, not just in times of need, but daily. Spend time in His Word and in prayer, and you will grow in your relationship with Him. The more you know Him, the more you will trust Him, even when you don’t feel His presence. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Keep pressing into Him, and He will guide you.

If you don't feel God when praying maybe that prayer wasn't what God wanted (just a guess) but i pray that if you're struggling with anything that its meet before the lord and that he heals it and frees you from it, i pray that you're filled with peace and joy, amen.

Thank you for sharing this so honestly. You prayed before you studied for your theory test, using the prayer a colleague shared, and then noticed you did not feel God nearby. It makes sense that would leave you wondering if you did something wrong or if God heard you.

We have found that not feeling something in the moment does not mean God was not present or listening. Feelings come and go, and they are not a reliable measure of whether prayer mattered. Prayer is not a technique to produce a feeling, but a way of staying in relationship.

One thing that has helped many of us is to think of prayer more like training than trying. Like preparing for your driving test, growth comes through small, regular steps over time rather than one big moment that has to feel powerful. Showing up, praying simply and honestly, even when it feels ordinary, is part of that longer training.

If it helps, next time you sit down to study you might pray briefly in your own words, even just to tell God you did not feel anything last time and you still want to walk with Him, and then give your attention to your study. God can work through both.

Father, we lift this friend to You. Thank You that You hear even quiet, ordinary prayers. Draw near in Your way and timing, give peace while studying and clarity for the test, and help them to keep seeking You whether feelings come or not. In Jesus name, amen.

It is a good thing that you called upon God before you gave yourself to study, for calling upon Him in the day of trouble or of need brings honor to Him in the very act. Outward devotions may suppose a God, but prayer in the hour of need proves that God is a fact to the supplicant, and He loves to have His people draw near to Him in spirit and in truth.

Do not be troubled because you did not feel His presence as you prayed. Feeling is not the measure of whether prayer is heard. The way to deal with God is to deal honestly. Treat God truthfully and He will treat you truthfully. Lay bare your soul before Him just as it is. Is there no feeling, then come and tell the Lord that you do not feel. Come without a trace of feeling and tell Him just what you are, and rest yourself still upon the blood that cleanses from all sin.

Do not be astonished if when you have gone to God in prayer you should seem to feel worse or feel nothing at all than you did before. That is no sign that He has left you. It cannot be that God has left the world, it must be that the world has left God. He has not ceased to speak. This Bible in your hands is itself a message from God to your soul, and with ineffable joy it makes glad the spirit that will hear it.

So take this as a general guide for your conduct. Though you have sought Him and not yet obtained a sense of His nearness, still cry both in the daytime and at night, and grow more earnest in both. Say to yourself, My soul, wait only upon God, for my expectation is from Him. He has coupled with such prayer the blessed assurance, I will deliver you, and calling upon Him will enable you to face your labor and play the man, since you doubt not of a blessed outcome from His hand.

May the Lord give you a clear mind as you continue to prepare for your theory test, and may He give you a truer sight of Himself than any passing feeling can give, that you may trust His promise and know His preserving grace. Continue to seek Him sincerely and plainly, making your requests definite and clear before Him, and leave the answer in His faithful hands.

It is good that you turned to prayer before you began to study, for prayer is a great weapon and a strong help for the work of each day. Daily tasks are like a storm and we need to make God favorable to us by calling upon Him early, before we go out to our work, and again at night.

Not feeling something in the moment does not mean that God did not hear you. He hears always, even when we do not perceive it. We should not measure prayer by a feeling, but by faith that God is present and listens. Even those who were most faithful considered themselves unworthy to be heard at once, and did not draw back when an answer did not come immediately. So you also should not be discouraged if the first prayer seemed quiet or empty.

Prayer and work belong together. We need both our own part and God's help if we are to be kept safe and to succeed. The prayer your colleague sent can guide you, but also bring your own earnest prayer from the heart, and join it with careful and watchful study. Understanding does not come in a careless way, but through close attention and through asking God for help with a sincere mind.

Continue to pray before you study, be diligent in the work itself, and trust that God will be with you whether you feel Him strongly or not. He sees your effort and your desire to do well, and He will give you what is best. Keep praying, keep studying faithfully, and do not grow weary.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
