Student refusing to come to school

We join with you in lifting up your student before the throne of grace and we thank you for your caring heart as his teacher to intercede for him and to discern what is happening in the spiritual realm.
We understand your concern that he is refusing to come to school and says he is having trouble with another student. We agree that there is a spiritual dimension to such struggles, for Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. At the same time we also know that God calls us to address the practical needs with wisdom and action, and trouble between students should be taken seriously with godly counsel, communication with parents and school staff, and loving intervention to bring peace. Romans 12:18 encourages us so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men, and Matthew 5:9 tells us blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
We pray against any spirit of fear, anxiety, or discouragement that would keep this young student from coming to school, for 2 Timothy 1:7 says God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control. We pray that the Lord would replace his dread with joy and confidence, for Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. We also claim Philippians 4:6-7 that in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask God to guard this child's heart and mind in Christ and to help him enjoy learning and fellowship at school again.
We also want to gently remind you of the precious truth that it is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. You did not mention His name in your request, and we want to encourage you in this. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, and Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and confessing Him as Lord, as Romans 10:9 says, that we are saved and can boldly approach God in prayer.

You know him by name, You formed him and You love him deeply, for Matthew 19:14 says Allow the little children to come to me, and don't forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these. We rebuke any spiritual attack or scheme of the enemy that seeks to steal his joy, his peace, and his desire to learn. We ask You to surround him with Your protection and to let Psalm 34:18 be real to him, that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Lord, heal any hurt caused by conflict with the other student, bring reconciliation where possible, and give wisdom to his teachers, parents, and counselors as they guide and support him. Grant to his teacher wisdom as promised in James 1:5, that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. Restore to this child a love for school, friendships that build him up, and a heart that finds joy in learning and growing in the place You have planted him. Let him know he is not alone, that You are with him always. We ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

Your burden for this dear child has been brought before the Lord and we have made it our own in prayer. It is a tender thing to carry a lamb upon the heart, and you have done well to carry this young one there before the throne of grace.
We understand the heaviness you feel, for when a child walks in darkness and has no light, even though he fears the Lord in his measure, his soul is cast down within him. And we have found it true that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Therefore we must not keep this care confined within ourselves, but cast it upon Him who cares for the child far more than we do.
You speak of trouble with another student and of a spiritual attack, and both may be true, for we wrestle not only against flesh and blood. Yet remember that our Lord Himself entered the world a holy Child, and He knows the frailty and the fears of childhood. He who taught Ephraim to go, taking them by their arms as a nurse teaches her little ones, is able to teach this child to walk through his present trial. He puts Himself to school with God alone who prays, Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God, and that is the prayer we would have this child learn in his own measure, and have you learn as his teacher.
Do not sin against the child by thinking lightly of his sorrow. A child's trouble is great to a child, and the Lord Jesus sees the purchase of His own agonies in every youthful believer, for the precious blood flowed to redeem such as these. As a church and as those entrusted with the young, we are stewards who must give account for every opportunity to do good to the child, and that stewardship is fulfilled most of all by prayer and by laying the child on the heart before God.
We have prayed, and will continue to pray, that the Lord would make this child as a weaned child, content and quieted in soul, free from that fretting anxiety which now keeps him from his place. We ask that the Lord would guard him from all evil, soften the heart of the other student and bring peace between them, give wisdom to you and to his parents and to those set over the school, and restore to him a joy in learning. May He who sits amid the choirs of angels condescend to come down to His little one and teach him, and carry him in His bosom, that he may go up to the house of learning with a cheerful spirit.
May the Lord make you faithful in this stewardship, instant in prayer, gentle in instruction, and may He let you see fruit from your labour, that this child may prove that to be taught of God is to walk in light and peace.
