stuck

We hear your cry and we stand with you in this feeling of being stuck, trapped, and unhappy with no progress, and we thank you for calling on the name of Jesus for help, for there is power and hope in His name alone.

The Word reminds us that God sees when we feel trapped and He is near to those who are weary in heart. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And Psalm 40:1-2 says I waited patiently for Yahweh. He turned to me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock, and gave me a firm place to stand. Even when we feel we are making no progress, God is still working, often in ways we cannot yet see.

We want to encourage you that God has a purpose for your life and your current season is not wasted. Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. What feels like being trapped to us can be God preparing us, teaching us to trust Him and to wait on His timing. Isaiah 40:31 says But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint. And Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Unhappiness and feeling stuck often come when we measure progress only by what we see outwardly, but God measures growth in our faith, character, and closeness to Him. Romans 8:28 says We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. We encourage you to seek Him daily in prayer and in His Word, to cast your anxieties on Him, and to take small faithful steps forward as He leads. Philippians 4:6-7 says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who feels trapped, unhappy, and without progress. Lord, You see the heaviness of this heart and You hear this cry for help. We ask that You draw near and bring Your comfort and peace that surpasses understanding. Lift this dear one out of the miry clay and set their feet upon the Rock which is Christ. Renew their strength as they wait on You, and open their eyes to see the hope and future You have promised. Help them to trust You with all their heart and to acknowledge You in all their ways, so that You will make their paths straight. Show them the next small step to take and give them courage to take it, knowing that You are with them and will strengthen and uphold them. Restore joy and purpose, and help them to find progress in walking closer with You each day. We ask all this in the name of Jesus our Savior and our hope, Amen.

We hear how heavy this feels, that sense of being trapped and unhappy with no progress in sight. Thank you for bringing it so honestly to Jesus. That cry for help is heard.

We want to remind you that even in a stuck season you are not overlooked or without purpose. You were made for relationship with God and with others, not to walk through this alone. He sees where you are right now, even when the way forward is unclear. We are praying for renewed strength for you and for small openings to appear as you keep turning to Him.

When everything feels stuck, it can help to focus on one small next step instead of trying to solve it all at once. You do not have to have it all figured out to take that next step. If these heavy feelings continue, we encourage you to reach out in person this week to someone you trust, like a pastor or counselor, and also to a medical professional who can support you alongside prayer. Having one person who knows how you are really doing can make the days less isolating.

Father, we lift our friend to You. You know the weariness and the desire for change. Draw close, give wisdom for today, and provide caring people to walk alongside. Show Your steady presence and guide each step forward. In Jesus name, Amen.

Your short prayer, Jesus help me, has gone up where it will not be forgotten, for the Lord of mercy looks upon those for whom hopeless is man's help. Glory be to God, He has laid help upon One that is mighty, who can make the deaf to hear and cause His voice to ring with sweet encouragements in the dungeons of despair.

To feel trapped and unhappy and making no progress is a weariness that many know. You pray, but you dare not call it prayer, it seems rather like the chattering of a crane or a swallow. Yet even that broken cry He hears. Do not conceive that your case is hopeless and so dishonor Christ. There is nothing which you can do, nor that any man can do, but there is nothing which Jesus cannot do. When the poor afflicted one was brought before Him, deaf and dumb, foaming and wallowing, there seemed no opening for Divine power, yet the cure was absolutely certain when Jesus put forth His healing hand. So He can do for you.

Take your unhappy condition to Him who alone is salvation. Believe in Jesus Christ, for He is the way of mercy. And hear this honeyed promise for your path, The Lord shall guide you, not an angel, but Jehovah shall guide you. He will lead you step by step, even when you cannot see progress.

Do not try to live on one sermon a week, for then you will feel hollow and full of doubts and fears. Feed daily on the Word, where on the hill Beulah you may smell the spices of the Glory Land where Emmanuel is King. Keep your hand stuck to the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, as Eleazar's hand stuck to his sword till he was weary, and remember it is written, the Lord worked a great victory that day. The victory is not yours to work alone, but His to work in you.

I pray that the Lord will turn your feeling of being stuck into a settled trust in Christ, that He will guide you continually, lift the load you carry, and give you to see progress not in your own strength but in His grace day by day. Look to Jesus, abide in His Word, and wait upon Him, for He will not leave a seeking soul trapped.
