We stand with you in this painful and difficult season, lifting your marriage before the Lord with heavy hearts. The Word of God tells us, "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1). Your desire to fight for your marriage is rooted in God’s design, marriage is a covenant, not just a contract, and it is meant to reflect Christ’s unbreakable love for His church (Ephesians 5:25-33). We grieve with you over the brokenness you’re experiencing, and we recognize the weight of this moment for you, your wife, and your precious children.
First, we must rebuke the spirit of division and hardness of heart that has taken root in this situation. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and divorce is one of his most destructive tactics. We declare that this marriage is covered by the blood of Jesus, and we stand against every lie that says separation is the only answer. "What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate" (Matthew 19:6). We pray that God would expose any unconfessed sin, bitterness, or unforgiveness in either of your hearts, whether from past wounds, unmet expectations, or pride, and that He would bring repentance and healing.
Lord, we ask You to soften your wife’s heart. Only You can change the heart of man (Proverbs 21:1), and we plead for Your mercy to intervene. Where there is anger, bring peace. Where there is resentment, bring forgiveness. Where there is hopelessness, bring Your living hope. Remind her of the vows she made before You, not just to her husband, but to You, and stir in her a desire to honor those vows. Father, we also ask that You would strengthen this brother in his faith and resolve. Give him wisdom to know how to love his wife as Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25), even when she is not responding in kind. Help him to lead with humility, patience, and grace, trusting You to work in ways he cannot see.
We pray for your children, Lord. They are innocent in this, yet they will bear the weight of this conflict if it is not resolved in Your way. Guard their hearts from fear, confusion, and bitterness. Let them see Your love through their parents, even in this storm. "Behold, children are a heritage of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is his reward" (Psalm 127:3). May they grow up knowing the security of a home built on Your Word.
Father, we also ask that You would surround this family with godly counsel, men and women who will speak truth in love, who will hold them accountable, and who will walk alongside them in this battle. Protect them from well-meaning but worldly advice that contradicts Your Word. "Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety" (Proverbs 11:14).
Above all, we declare that nothing is impossible for You (Luke 1:37). You are the God who restores, who heals, and who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). We ask that You would do a miracle in this marriage, not just for their sake, but for Your glory. May this trial draw them closer to You and to one another, and may their testimony one day be a light to others who are struggling.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
