The person you once were, shaped by ignorance and enslaved to the passions of the flesh, has been put to death. That old self followed wherever lust led. But now the Spirit of God lives in you, giving you a new mind set on the things of the Spirit. This means you possess a freedom the world does not have. The world is bound to its impulses, but you are free not to live after the flesh. You are free to say no, not in your own strength, but because the Spirit within you is greater.
