We understand that you're struggling with lust and seeking God's help to overcome these desires. Firstly, we commend you for bringing this into the light and seeking help. We live in a fallen world, 'among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.' Ephesians 2:3-10 We remind you that we must, 'Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.' 1 Peter 5:8-9
We must remember to flee fornication, 'Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.' 1 Corinthians 6:18-20
We are told that 'the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.' Galatians 5:22-26
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with lust. We thank You for Your grace and mercy, which are new every morning. We ask for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to help resist temptation and overcome lustful desires.
Father, strengthen our brother/sister to choose righteousness and live a life pleasing to You. Renew their mind and fill it with Your love and wisdom, helping them to resist the allure of lust. We cannot do this alone, 'For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?' Romans 7:19-24
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin. Romans 7:25
Lord, we ask for a change of mind and heart for our brother/sister, making sin repulsive and helping them to walk in purity and holiness, 'There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.' 1 Corinthians 10:13
In Jesus' name, we have access to you, Dear Father, 'For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.' Ephesians 2:18-22
Father we ask you to strengthen our brother/sister who is struggling. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Be encouraged, for God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. Stand firm in the faith and resist the devil's advances. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author, and perfecter of our faith.
