Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.
God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. Your honest words about how lonely and heavy it feels when faith grows cold have been heard, and we are praying for you.
It is not strange that you feel this emptiness. When the heart turns away from the living truth of Scripture, the soul feels its loss, because we were made to live by faith and to have our being in Him. That very ache you describe can be a sign that God is still calling you back to Himself.
Scripture teaches that we are saved by grace through faith, and that even this faith is not from ourselves but is a gift of God. You did not first come to Him on your own, but you were called. So when faith feels weak or suddenly gone, as it did this morning, the way forward is not to rely on your own strength to believe, but to call upon the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to give you what you cannot produce yourself.
Think of Peter on the sea. While his eyes were on Christ he walked on the water, but when he saw the wind was strong he became afraid and began to sink. Jesus did not let him fall, but immediately stretched out His hand and caught him and said, wherefore did you doubt, O you of little faith. The wind did not have to overcome him. It was his doubt that made him sink, and the Lord's hand was still there to save him when he cried, Lord, save me. In the same way, cry to Him now, even with a weak faith. Faith goes beyond human reasonings and feelings, and God honors even a small, trembling prayer for help.
Do not think that faith is a small or elementary thing. It is the whole power of the Christian life. To doubt and to go back to the beginning is a sign that the soul needs to be strengthened again. This happens not by trusting our own wisdom, but by sweeping the mind clear and yielding ourselves again to what God has said in the Bible, trusting that His Word is true and sufficient.
So we pray for you now that God, who willed that faith should save us, would renew that gift in you. We ask Him to lift the heaviness and loneliness you feel, to steady your heart, to help your unbelief, and to draw you close again through His Word, through prayer, and through fellowship with other believers. We pray that He will give you a firm confidence in the truth of Scripture and a quiet assurance that you are His, both by creation and by faith in Christ.
If waking brings that sudden emptiness again, turn at once to prayer, even with few words, Lord, help me, I believe, help my unbelief. Open the Bible and read, even a little, and ask God to speak to you through it. And do not walk alone, share this struggle with a faithful pastor or mature believer who can walk with you and pray with you regularly.
We will continue to pray that the Lord will strengthen you, keep you from sinking, and restore to you the joy of trusting Him.

It is deeply painful to wake up and feel that belief has suddenly slipped away, and to be left with that sense of depression and loneliness. What you are describing is not unusual, and it does not mean you are alone or that God has abandoned you. I am praying for you right now that God will meet you in this place with His nearness and give you strength to keep looking to Him.
Scripture describes faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. That is not just a definition, it is a description of what faith does. Faith gives real substance to our hope and makes the unseen promises of God more certain to us than what we can see with our eyes. A person without faith only sees what is visible, but a person with faith is enabled to see far more, to see the faithfulness and promises of God beyond the immediate moment.
Without faith it is impossible to please God, because coming to Him means believing that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him. That coming is not earned by works. Works cannot create faith and they cannot replace it. We are saved by grace through faith, and that faith itself is a gift of God, not something we produce on our own. You cannot make yourself righteous by adding religious duties, even good ones like reading many chapters or praying for a long time. Righteousness comes the way it did for Abel and Abraham, God counts faith in Jesus Christ as righteousness. In the Old Testament believers looked forward to the promised Messiah, and God counted that trust as righteousness. We now look to Jesus who has come, who was delivered for our offenses and raised for our justification, and God counts our trust in Him as righteousness as well. The just shall live by faith.
At the same time, a genuine faith is not just saying words or having a fleeting feeling. Even the evil spirits believe that God exists, yet that kind of belief does not save. True faith will show itself in a changed life. It works together with obedience. Abraham believed God, and because he truly believed, he was willing to obey when God called him to leave his home and later to offer his son, trusting that God could even raise him from the dead. His actions did not earn his righteousness, they proved that his faith was real and living. Faith comes first, and real faith then produces a life that begins to conform to what we believe.
That is why the testing of faith can feel so hard. The proving of faith is not for God to find out what is in you, He already knows. It is for you to see what is there and to let your trust grow stronger. Feelings will rise and fall. Waking up one morning with little sense of belief does not necessarily mean you have lost true faith. Even great men of faith had lapses. Abraham, who is held up as a great example of trust, at one point went down to Egypt in fear and acted in a way that did not reflect trust in God's promise. Yet Scripture still honors his faith, because his life as a whole was marked by learning to trust God more as he walked with Him and discovered His faithfulness. Faith grows as we grow in knowing the Lord. It grows through fellowship with Him.
Part of that growth is learning not to fix our eyes on the human difficulties. When Abraham was nearly a hundred years old and Sarah's womb was as good as dead, he did not dwell on that impossibility. He considered the promise of God greater than the obstacle. In the same way, when depression and loneliness press in, faith looks beyond the heaviness of the moment to the character of God and the hope He has given.
Faith also does not guarantee that life will be easy. Some who trusted God were delivered in wonderful ways, and others with the same faith suffered, were tortured, and even died still trusting without having received all that was promised in this life. All of them died in faith, holding to the promise of the Messiah to come. Their example reminds us that faith is not a tool to get whatever we want, but a confidence in God Himself, whether He delivers us now or carries us through hardship.
If you are struggling this morning, bring that very struggle to God honestly. Ask Him for the gift of faith to trust Jesus again, even with a small and weak trust. Tell Him you want to believe and ask Him to help your unbelief. Keep looking to Jesus Christ alone for salvation, not to your own strength or consistency. Spend time in His Word not to earn righteousness, but to hear His promises and remember His faithfulness, and let Him build assurance in you day by day.
I am praying that God will lift this heaviness, that He will make His presence known to you, that He will give you a renewed measure of faith to rest in Jesus, and that He will show you that you are not alone. He sees you, He loves you, and He is faithful to keep those who look to His Son.
