Psalm 110:3 :
Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.

A Prayer Based on Psalm 110:3:
Our prayer:

"Heavenly Father,
we thank You for Your mighty power and the reign of Your Son, Jesus Christ. In this day and in this season, we ask that You make our heart—and the hearts of Your people—eager and willing volunteers in Your service.
Strip away hesitation, fear, and selfish ambition. Clothe us in the beauties of holiness, consecrated and set apart for Your purposes just like the freshness of the morning dew. Grant us renewed strength, spiritual vitality, and a ready spirit to step out wherever You lead.
Let Your power move mightily in our lives, our families, and our communities. In Jesus' name, Amen."

We join with you in this beautiful and timely prayer and we say amen to your cry to be stripped of hesitation, fear, and selfish ambition and to be clothed in the beauties of holiness.

We love how you have anchored this prayer in Psalm 110:3 which says Your people offer themselves willingly in the day of your power, in holy array. Out of the womb of the morning, you have the dew of your youth. What a picture of willing hearts, consecrated and fresh and renewed like the morning dew, ready for the day of His power.

We are encouraged that you have centered this on Jesus, the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life. We are reminded that Jesus said I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will not be hungry in John 6:35 and that In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God in John 1:1. It is only through Him that we can approach the Father and be made holy and willing, for Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6.

Your prayer addresses the very things that so often hold us back. Scripture tells us God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7. We are also warned to do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves in Philippians 2:3. And we are called to be holy, for it is written You shall be holy, for I am holy in 1 Peter 1:16. This holiness is not our own striving but being set apart as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God in Romans 12:1, clothed in Christ.

So we pray together with you.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mighty power and for the reign of Your Son Jesus Christ at Your right hand. We ask You to make us willing in this day of Your power. Strip away from us all hesitation and fear and selfish ambition. Forgive us where we have held back from Your call because of comfort or pride. Clothe us in the beauties of holiness, consecrated and set apart for Your purposes. Make us fresh like the dew of the morning, renew our strength and our spiritual vitality. We remember Your promise that those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength in Isaiah 40:31. Give us a ready spirit to step out wherever You lead, to serve You in our lives, our families, and our communities. Let Your power move mightily through us as Your willing volunteers. We ask this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus our Bread of Heaven and Word of Life, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to offer yourself daily in this way, walking in that holy array with a willing heart, trusting that He who has called you will also equip you for every good work He has prepared for you.

We were grateful to read your prayer for willing hearts, ready to serve without hesitation or self interest and clothed in holiness. That desire for freshness like morning dew is such a hopeful picture for your community and families.

We have found it freeing to remember that this kind of readiness grows more like training than trying. One way to think about it is like preparing for a marathon. You cannot simply try harder in the moment and run the distance, but small, regular steps over time shape you. In the same way, God forms a willing spirit in us gradually as we stay open to Him day by day, which takes the pressure off striving and keeps us dependent on Him.

If it is helpful, you might choose one small, steady practice together this week to train that openness. It could be a brief morning prayer asking for a willing spirit, or a few minutes reading and praying together as a community at the same time each day. Not to earn anything, but to keep your hearts turned toward Him and ready to respond.

We are joining you in asking for that renewed vitality and readiness in your own lives and in the lives around you.

Father, make our hearts willing and eager to serve You. Strip away fear and selfish ambition and form us in holiness for Your purposes. Give us fresh strength and ready spirits to step where You lead. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your prayer breathes the very spirit of Psalm 110:3, where in the day of His power His people shall be a willing people, arrayed in the beauties of holiness as the dew from the womb of the morning. This willingness is not worked in us by mere resolve, but by the Lord Himself putting His fear in our hearts and drawing us to trust in Christ.

You ask that hesitation, fear and selfish ambition might be stripped away. There is a fear which perfect love casts out, namely slavish fear, the fear of a culprit before a judge. But there is a holy and filial fear which perfect love nourishes, a reverent fear to grieve Him whom we love, a fear which keeps us from departing from Him. Such holy fear will put wings upon your heels and help you to fly to Jesus, and then to walk in obedience. At the back of everything must be faith in God, for faith begets this holy fear, and faith and fear together produce obedience as their gracious fruit.

You pray to be clothed in the beauties of holiness. Scripture teaches us that without holiness, practical, personal, vital holiness, no one shall see the Lord. This is not mere outward morality, which may clean the outside of the cup while the heart remains unchanged, nor is it a ceremonial holiness. It is conformity to the will of God and obedience to the Lord's command, wrought in us as our nature is renewed and as we feed upon the Word. Jesus, who is the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, has magnified the law and made it honourable by His own obedience, and by His atoning death He has made amends to holiness for our offences. Through faith in Him alone we are saved, and through His Spirit we are made to follow after that holiness which He requires.

You ask for renewed strength and a ready spirit. The promise stands, they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. When we are linked to God and wait upon Him for everything, casting our nothingness upon His omnipotence, He lays His hands upon us and says, Be strong, fear not. He awakens His children to renewed consecration, renewed zeal and renewed delight in holy service. The obedience He calls for is not the obedience of a slave tuned to the crack of the whip, nor the obedience of a well trained creature, but the cheerful obedience of a child, the obedience of love and of faith, wholehearted and exact. For the exactness of obedience is the very essence of obedience, to keep close to the Divine mind and to turn not to the right hand nor to the left.

So let us pray together according to your request.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the mighty power and reign of Your Son, Jesus Christ, by whom alone we are saved. Make our hearts willing in this day of Your power. Take away all hesitation, slavish fear and selfish ambition. Put Your holy and filial fear within us, that we may reverence You and desire to please You. Wash us and clothe us in the beauties of holiness, and cause us to walk in practical obedience to Your will, seeking to know Your commandments that we may keep them. Renew our strength as we wait upon You, give us spiritual vitality and a ready spirit to go wherever You lead, trusting not in our own strength but in the indwelling power of Your Holy Spirit. Let Your power move mightily in our lives, our families and our communities, that we may serve You with reverence and holy fear all our days. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your prayer is good and right before God, for you ask not for ease or earthly gain but for a willing heart and a holy life.

The Psalm you cite speaks of a people made willing in the day of God's power, arrayed in holy splendor and fresh as dew. This is not a holiness of name only, but of deed. As Scripture teaches, we obey from the heart, with a willing mind, not by force. God gives the grace and the form of doctrine, but we must walk in it. Holiness is perfected in the fear of God and in a life that is pure and ordered, whether in marriage or in singleness, keeping ourselves from what defiles and pursuing peace with all.

So I join my prayer to yours. May the Lord strip away hesitation and fear and all selfish ambition, and clothe you in true holiness. May He who is the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, Jesus Christ our Lord through whom alone is salvation, renew your strength and make you eager to serve wherever He leads. May His power rest upon you, your family and your community, that you may live as willing volunteers in His service today and in the days to come. Amen.

Your prayer beautifully echoes the heart of Psalm 110 where it speaks of a people made willing in the day of God's power, arrayed in holy splendor and fresh as the morning dew.

That willingness is key. God does not want forced or pressured service. He works by stirring the heart, and what is done for Him is only pleasing when it comes from a willing heart. When He moves upon you, the response He seeks is a free and ready yes, not something done out of constraint. It is that willing offering that He accepts and uses to accomplish His work.

You asked to be clothed in the beauties of holiness, and that is exactly what God desires to do. Holiness is not an outward standard or a matter of dress and appearance. It is a matter of the heart. It is a rightness of character on the inside, and from that root comes right conduct on the outside. Without that inward purity no one will see the Lord, and Jesus said the pure in heart will see God. We cannot make ourselves holy by outward effort, but God for our good wants to make us partakers of His own holiness, and He counts us holy through faith in Jesus Christ and then calls us to pursue a life that is pleasing to Him in purity and honesty.

You also prayed to be stripped of hesitation and fear. Scripture shows there are two kinds of fear. One is a cowering dread that God will harm us, but the true fear of the Lord is reverent awe. It comes from quietly meditating on who God is, until we stand in wonder before Him. That reverence is the beginning of wisdom and it teaches us to hate evil. It also frees us from the fear of people. When the Lord is our helper we can say we will not fear what man can do to us. If we take care of our relationship with Him in that reverent fear, He promises to take care of us, so that those who fear Him lack no good thing.

You prayed to be stripped of selfish ambition as well. That points to total consecration. The picture in Scripture is of laying hands on the offering, signifying that it takes our place as wholly given to God. God wants not a partial surrender with some areas held back, but a complete consecration of ears to hear Him, hands to serve Him, and feet to walk in His ways. As that readiness to will is there, He then works the performance as we offer what we have.

May the Lord answer this prayer in you and in His people. May He remove every hesitation and self seeking motive, fill you with reverent awe that hates what is evil and loves what is pure, and make you a willing volunteer in His service. May He clothe you in true holiness of heart, so that righteousness of life flows from it, and may He grant you fresh strength and vitality like dew in the morning as you walk before Him in holiness and righteousness all your days.
