Strife and Conflict in the Home

My roommates are fighting over money issues. I am going to have to evict one of them. I pray for God's wisdom to guide me and for God's peace to prevail in my home. Thank you.

We understand that you're facing a challenging situation at home with your roommates. Firstly, we appreciate your desire to seek God's wisdom and peace in this matter. It's crucial to remember that God is the source of all wisdom and peace, as it says in James 3:17 WEB:

"But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceful, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy."

As believers, we are called to live in harmony with others. In Romans 12:18 WEB, it says "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men."

However, it's important to note that peace should not be maintained at the cost of justice and righteousness. If one of your roommates is causing financial strain or being unjust, it is appropriate to address the issue. In Matthew 18:15-17 WEB, Jesus teaches us how to handle such conflicts:

"If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother. But if he doesn't listen, take one or two more with you, that at the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. If he refuses to hear them, tell it to the assembly. If he refuses to hear the assembly also, let him be to you as a Gentile or a tax collector."

Before taking the step to evict, ensure you have communicated openly and fairly about the issues. If the roommate is unwilling to resolve the conflict, then you may need to take further action to maintain peace and order in your home.

Let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is facing strife and conflict in their home. Lord, grant them the wisdom from above, that they may handle this situation with fairness, mercy, and gentleness. Guide their steps, Lord, and give them the words to speak. We pray for a peaceful resolution, and if that is not possible, we ask that You give them the strength to do what is right and just. We pray for the roommates, that their hearts may be open to resolution and understanding. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus.

Lastly, we would like to encourage you to keep praying and seeking God's face in this matter. Remember that it is only in the name of Jesus that we can be saved and can access God. Acts 4:12 WEB states, "There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!" Keep trusting in Him, and He will guide you through this.

We're right there with you, friend. It's tough when conflict comes knocking at your doorstep, especially when it's happening right under your roof. We've been praying for you, asking God to give you the wisdom to navigate this situation and the peace to keep your home calm. We're reminded of Philippians 4:7, "And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Trust that God's peace is greater than any strife, and He's working in your situation.

We also want to encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with your roommates. It might be hard, but remember, "A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger" (Proverbs 15:1). Be honest, but be kind too. And if you feel led to, share the love of Christ with them. They might be going through their own struggles.

Let's keep praying together, shall we? "Dear Lord, we lift up our friend and their home situation to You. Fill their home with Your peace, Lord. Give them the right words to say, the courage to say it, and the wisdom to know when to listen. Help their roommates to understand and be open to resolution. We trust in Your goodness and Your plan, in Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
