Strengthen my trust in god

Please pray that my trust in god is strengthen in Jesus name. My life is really uncertain right now and lots of bad things are happening. I’ve experienced gods wrath and I’m afraid of if I trust him he will still even send more wrath and my trust will be misplaced.

We hear your heart and we join with you in this season of uncertainty where many hard things are happening at once and fear has made trusting God feel risky. We understand how overwhelming it can feel when life is unstable, and we want to gently correct a thought that is weighing on you, that if you trust God He will respond with more wrath and your trust will be misplaced.

The Word shows us that God is utterly trustworthy and that His character toward His children is not one of wrath but of steadfast love and faithfulness. For those who are in Christ Jesus, His wrath for our sin was fully poured out on Jesus at the cross so that we would not have to bear it. Romans 8:1 says There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. What you may be experiencing is not the wrath of God, but the trials and sorrows of living in a fallen world, and at times the loving discipline of a Father who is shaping us, not punishing us in anger. Hebrews 12:6 tells us For whom the Lord loves, he disciplines, and chastises every son whom he receives. His discipline is not wrath, it is love seeking to restore and strengthen us. Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us It is because of Yahweh's loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn't fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

We also want to remind you that fear and trust cannot occupy the same space, and God calls us to bring our fear to Him. 1 John 4:18 says There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear has punishment. He who fears is not made perfect in love. When you feel afraid, God does not turn away, He draws near. Isaiah 41:10 says Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. And Psalm 56:3 says When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

Trust is strengthened not by seeing all the answers, but by knowing the One who holds the answers. Proverbs 3:5-6 says Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Romans 8:28 assures us We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose. This does not mean all things are good, but that God in His sovereignty can weave even painful things together for our ultimate good and His glory as we trust Him.

We encourage you to strengthen your trust daily by staying rooted in His Word, pouring out your honest fears in prayer, and remembering His past faithfulness. Trials can refine our faith as James 1:2-4 teaches, that the testing of our faith produces endurance, so do not interpret hardship as a sign that God is against you.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one whose heart is weary and afraid. We ask You to strengthen their trust in You in the midst of uncertainty. Lord, calm the fear that You will respond to their trust with wrath, and reveal Yourself as a faithful Father full of mercy and compassion. Help them to see that in Christ there is no condemnation and no wrath remaining, only Your love and grace. Give them peace that passes understanding, steady their heart with Your promises, and help them to cast all their anxiety on You because You care for them. Teach them to trust You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, and make their paths straight as they acknowledge You. Renew their strength, restore their hope, and let them experience Your perfect love casting out all fear. We ask that You use even these hard circumstances for their good and for Your glory, and that their faith would come forth as gold, stronger and more steadfast. We thank You that You are with them, You will uphold them with Your righteous right hand, and You will never leave them nor forsake them. We pray this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, Amen.

We hear how heavy this feels for you right now, the uncertainty and the string of hard things one after another. It makes sense that trust would feel risky when you are afraid that leaning in will only bring more wrath, and we are grateful you shared that fear so honestly.

What you described is a very common struggle when life has been painful, to wonder if God is waiting to punish rather than to care for you. In our experience trust does not usually come all at once. It grows in small moments as we bring our real fears to Him and learn over time that His character is steady, kind and for us, not against us. Trust is not pretending everything is fine, it is choosing to stay in conversation with Him even while questions remain.

One simple step that has helped others is to set aside a few quiet minutes each day to tell God plainly what you are afraid of, in your own words, and then to sit for a moment and ask Him to show you more of who He really is. If you have a trusted pastor or mature believer nearby, letting one safe person know you are walking through this can also keep you from carrying it alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You right now. You see the uncertainty and the fear of being hurt again. We ask You to gently strengthen trust, to quiet the fear of wrath with a deeper sense of Your mercy and faithfulness, and to give peace and wisdom for each next step. Hold them close and guide them day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your honest prayer about trust in the midst of uncertainty and dread of wrath touches a trial well known to the people of God, and we have taken it before the Lord with you.

There is a fear toward God from which we must not wish to be free, that reverent fear which trembles before His holiness and dreads sinning against Him, for happy is the man that feareth alway in that sense. But there is another fear, a slavish fear, which mistrusts and suspects God and keeps the soul away from Him. That slavish fear is as poison to the childlike spirit, for it stirs us to resist the very One we should run toward, and it causes us to say in our hearts that perhaps He will do us harm even if we trust Him.

Fear of this sort is always distressing and always weakening. It makes the heart say, what time I am afraid, my trust will be misplaced, He will send more wrath. Yet Scripture answers that fear directly, What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee. To be afraid of temporal trouble, of bad things happening in this valley, is natural, but the man who fully trusts in God is not to be ruled by it. He is the God of the hills and He is also the God of the valleys. When the front of the battle changes and you walk in deep waters of soul trouble and outward trial, He does not cease to be God there. The whole world is full of God to him who believes, and He sees you in all the good or ill that checkers life.

You speak of having experienced wrath and fearing more. Hear the remedy that takes all slavish fear away. How wonderful that He should have been an Infant and yet should be God over all, blessed forever. This blessed link between us and God, the holy Child Jesus, has taken all fear away. For those who are in Christ, the wrath you fear was borne by Him upon the cross. Salvation is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy, and it is given to as many as believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. When you trust Him, you are not trusting what you will never find, you are trusting a Father who gave His Son to be the propitiation for sin. Why give God a bad name by thinking that His own child cannot trust Him. It would cut a father to the heart if his child could not trust him, and how much more does unbelief dishonor our heavenly Father who has proved His love at Calvary.

Trust placed in Christ is never misplaced. The best works spring from love, not from slavish dread of hell. He does not want you to serve Him because you tremble at punishment, but because you rest in His mercy.

We pray for you now in Jesus name, that the Spirit of God would strengthen your trust and drive out all unbelief. We ask that you may be enabled to declare your ways unto God, the way of your thoughts, your fears, your memory and your actions, and hear Him answer, I have heard thee, and teach thee His statutes. We pray that He would give you a childlike spirit instead of a slavish one, that you would see Christ as your peace and know present rest with hope of future perfection. May your heart be fixed, trusting in the Lord, so that you shall not be afraid of evil tidings, and may you find that He who is our God is the God of salvation, and unto God the Lord belong the issues from death and from life.

Cast your uncertainty upon Him who neither leaves nor forsakes His own, and seek grace to serve Him day by day with all your might, looking often through the telescope of promise to the rest that remaineth for the people of God.
