It's not about begging and pleading with God. It's about trusting. It's about letting go of what keeps you in the past (the hurts, betrayals, the frustrations, regrets and a host of other emotional baggage, that has no place in the life of a believer). It's about simply trusting God to get you through. His word has already been given. He has already, His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who has called us to glory and excellence...whereby are given unto us exceeding abundantly great and precious promises that by these we might be partakers of His divine nature. It's about saying, thank you Father for your goodness to me, even in times it seems you aren't around. Here your word says that you prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies and in that abundance, you bid us to come and dine. In the time of Moses, there were fiery serpents that were killing the children of Israel because they failed to trust God. In order to be saved, they had to behold the serpent on the rod of Moses. What does that mean? It means, they had to take their eyes off what was going on around them, those fiery serpents and with their emotions screaming, 'don't look, watch out for those serpents on the ground', they had to tear their eyes off their circumstance and place them upon the bronzed serpent on the rod of Moses. When they did they, they were not bitten. If they did not do that, they died.
I'm a dog trainer and one of the commands I have owners teach their dogs is "watch me" This means, I want you to keep your focus on me. If you don't the reward is not yours. The reward is food. So the Lord is saying, Here is the prize, peace and rest, keep your focus on ME not the storm that is raging around you. It's a matter of TRUST. I will NOT be afraid of evil tidings, my heart is FIXED trusting in the Lord. My heart is FIXED O God my heart is FIXED, I will sing and give You praise. So when our focus is fixed on God and we are singing praises and thanksgiving to Him, then we are not allowing fear and doubt to enter in. You can't teach a dog to jump at the same time you are teaching him to sit. We can't speak negative when we are pouring out praise and thanksgiving to the Lord. We can speak blessings and cursings out of the same mouth...but not at the exact same time.
Father, for all your children who are struggling I pray:
Eph 1:17 and ask the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, to give you the Spirit, who will make you wise and reveal God to you, so that you will know him.
Eph 1:18 I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,
Eph 1:19 and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength
Eph 1:20 which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.
Eph 1:21 Christ rules there above all heavenly rulers, authorities, powers, and lords; he has a title superior to all titles of authority in this world and in the next.
Eph 1:22 God put all things under Christ's feet and gave him to the church as supreme Lord over all things.
Eph 1:23 The church is Christ's body, the completion of him who himself completes all things everywhere.
