strength and protection while caring for ### mentally ill husband

Disciple of Prayer
Dear Lord, I am begging for your help and strength and protection now. I am ### taking care of my husband, ###, who has been mentally ill for the last ###yrs due to long covid. He often seems like he has improved, but then he does very crazy things, and I am sometimes afraid again. He was very violent in the start of this. Our sons help from time to time, but I am the main carer and I beg for strength and protection, and please Lord, do not let satan use him, because I have seen that before as well. I pray for good health and strength. I am often so weak and sick and I think sometimes that he is trying to hurt me. Thank you, ###.

We hear your cry for help and lift you up before the throne of grace, dear sister in Christ. Your burden is heavy, and your heart is weary, but the Lord sees your faithfulness and your love for your husband, even in the midst of such great trial. We stand with you in prayer, trusting that God will sustain you, protect you, and bring healing to your husband according to His will.

First, we must address the spiritual warfare at hand. The enemy seeks to destroy marriages, families, and lives, and we see his hand at work in the violence and fear you have endured. But we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We rebuke the spirit of fear, confusion, and violence in the name of Jesus Christ, for "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We bind every evil influence over your husband and command it to flee in Jesus’ name. The Lord is your refuge and fortress, and He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and the deadly pestilence (Psalm 91:3).

Your husband’s mental illness is a battle, but it is not yours alone to fight. We pray for his mind to be renewed and restored by the power of the Holy Spirit. "The God of peace himself sanctify you completely. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ" (1 Thessalonians 5:23 WEB). We ask the Lord to break the chains of long COVID’s grip on his mind and body, for with God, all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). We also pray for wisdom for the doctors and professionals caring for him, that they may have divine insight into his condition.

You have carried this burden for so long, and it has taken a toll on your own health. We pray for your strength to be renewed like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31). The Lord is your strength and your shield; your heart trusts in Him, and you are helped (Psalm 28:7). We ask Him to heal your body and mind, to give you rest when you are weary, and to surround you with His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). You are not alone, sister. Your sons help you, and we pray the Lord will bless them for their support and give them wisdom in how to assist you.

We must also speak truth into the fear you feel. It is understandable to be afraid when someone you love has been violent, but we remind you that perfect love casts out fear (1 John 4:18). The Lord is your protector, and He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). If there is any danger to your safety, we encourage you to seek help from your church, trusted believers, or even authorities if necessary. The Lord does not call you to endure harm, and your life is precious to Him.

We pray for your marriage, that God would restore what has been broken and bring healing to your husband’s heart and mind. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:7-8 WEB). May your love for your husband be a testimony of Christ’s love for the Church, and may God use this trial to draw you both closer to Him.

Lastly, we must address the name by which we pray. There is power in the name of Jesus Christ, for "there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12 WEB). It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father and the power to overcome the schemes of the enemy. If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Jesus, trusting in His sacrifice for your sins and His resurrection power to sustain you. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and He alone can bring true healing and peace.

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this sister and her husband. Lord, You see the pain, the fear, and the exhaustion she carries. We ask You to be her strength when she is weak, her shield when she is afraid, and her healer when she is sick. Protect her from harm and give her wisdom in how to care for her husband. We pray for her husband’s mind and body to be restored, that the chains of mental illness would be broken, and that he would come to know Your peace and healing. Lord, we rebuke the enemy’s influence over this family and command every spirit of fear, violence, and confusion to flee in the name of Jesus. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let Your presence be their comfort and refuge. Provide this family with the support they need, whether through their sons, their church, or other believers. Give them hope in You, Lord, and remind them that You are working all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28). We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer. Amen.

We're praying with you, sister. We know the weight of caring for a loved one with mental illness is immense, and we're here to lift you up. We've been praying for strength and protection for you and your husband, and we want you to know that you're not alone in this journey.

We're claiming God's promise in Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." We believe that God is a God of healing and restoration, and we trust that He is at work in your husband's life, even if we can't see the progress yet.

We're also praying for wisdom for you, dear sister. Caring for someone with mental illness can be overwhelming, and we want you to have the wisdom to know when to seek help, when to rest, and when to advocate for your husband's care. We're claiming God's promise in James 1:5, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you."

We're also praying for your marriage, that God would strengthen and heal your relationship. We're claiming God's promise in Malachi 2:16, "I hate divorce, says the Lord God of Israel, and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment, says the Lord Almighty." We believe that God wants to restore your marriage, and we're trusting Him to do so.

We're also praying for your sons, that they would be a source of strength and support for you. We're claiming God's promise in Proverbs 17:6, "Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers." We believe that your sons can be a source of pride and joy for you, and we're praying that they would step up to support you in this time of need.

We're also praying for protection from the enemy. We know that he wants to destroy marriages and families, and we're claiming God's promise in Psalm 91:10-11, "No harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." We believe that God is your protector, and we're trusting Him to keep you safe.

We're also praying for provision. We know that caring for someone with mental illness can be expensive, and we want you to have the resources you need to care for your husband. We're claiming God's promise in Philippians 4:19, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus."

We're praying all these things in Jesus' name, and we trust that He is at work in your life and in your husband's life. We're here for you, sister, and we're praying with you every step of the way.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Healed Spirit Soul And Body

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this incredibly difficult season of caring for your husband. Our hearts have been heavy as we’ve lifted you, your husband, and your sons before the Lord, asking Him to surround you with His strength, protection, and peace. We’ve prayed specifically for wisdom in each moment, for physical and emotional endurance for you, and for God’s hedge of safety to guard your home from any harm or spiritual attack.

We’ve asked the Lord to quiet the fears that rise when your husband’s behavior shifts, and to replace them with His perfect peace that surpasses understanding. We’ve also prayed for moments of respite and encouragement, knowing how exhausting this journey must be. If the Lord has answered any of these prayers—whether through a sense of His presence, a measure of strength you didn’t think you had, or even small improvements in your husband’s condition—we would be so grateful to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a source of hope for others walking a similar path.

If, however, the burden still feels overwhelming and the answers seem distant, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are committed to continuing in prayer with you, trusting that God hears every cry of your heart. We’ve also prayed for your sons, that they would be given the right words and actions to support you, and that they too would be strengthened in this trial. May the Lord bless you with His nearness, His comfort, and His hope as you press into Him. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus.
