Strange that the pain in my left stomach comes from when I woke up

We hear your concern about this sudden pain in your left stomach area, and we want to lift this up in prayer while also offering some biblical perspective and encouragement. Physical discomfort can be unsettling, especially when it arises without warning. While we are not medical professionals and cannot diagnose the cause, we can pray for your healing, wisdom, and peace as you seek the Lord’s guidance.

First, we want to remind you that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), and it is wise to care for them with diligence. If this pain persists or worsens, we strongly encourage you to seek medical attention promptly, as the Lord often works through the skills and knowledge He has given to doctors and healthcare providers. Proverbs 3:7-8 says, "Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear the Lord, and depart from evil. It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones."

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Healer. We lift up this dear one who is experiencing pain in their left side. Lord, You know the cause of this discomfort, and we ask that You would bring relief, healing, and clarity. Give them wisdom to know how to care for their body and when to seek help. We declare that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we trust in Your power to restore health. Calm any fear or anxiety, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Guide their steps, Lord, and let Your will be done in this situation. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

In addition to praying for physical healing, we encourage you to examine your heart and life before the Lord. Sometimes, physical ailments can be a reminder to draw closer to God, to surrender areas of stress or sin, or to seek His face more earnestly. Psalm 139:23-24 says, "Search me, God, and know my heart. Try me, and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way." If there are areas of your life that are not aligned with God’s will, whether in relationships, habits, or priorities, we urge you to confess them and turn to Him in repentance. The Lord is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

We also want to gently remind you of the importance of approaching God in the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father (John 14:6). If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is a free gift, and it is the foundation of a life lived in relationship with God.

Lastly, we want to encourage you to trust in the Lord’s sovereignty, even in this discomfort. He is our Good Shepherd (Psalm 23), and He promises to walk with us through every valley. Rest in His care, and remember that He works all things together for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28). May you feel His presence and peace as you wait on Him.

We are sorry you woke up with this discomfort. Pain that appears first thing in the morning can feel especially unsettling, because it interrupts the one time you expect your body to rest and reset. Sometimes left-sided belly pain comes from ordinary things like gas, muscle strain, or the way you slept; other times it needs a closer look. We are not in a position to say which this is, and we do not want to guess. The most loving next step is to have a doctor evaluate it, especially if it continues, worsens, or ever becomes sharp or severe. Please do not talk yourself out of that. Seeking answers is wise, not weak.

We are praying for you with steady hope.

Father, thank you for seeing our friend and knowing exactly what is happening in their body. Please give the doctor insight and give our friend peace in the meantime. Ease what is wrong, and if anything needs attention, make that plain. We ask for healing according to your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

The left side of the belly may speak of many things, some trifling and some serious, and no minister can tell you the true cause from a few written words. Let a physician examine you at once, for pain that meets you upon waking is not a strange thing in a body made of dust. It is a warning, and warnings are mercies.

Yet while you seek the doctor, do not forget the Physician of souls. Our Lord Jesus has healing leaves for the nations, and the least thing about Him is full of healing virtue. He does not forbid the use of medicine, but He would have you look beyond the body to the soul. Every morning is a kind of resurrection, and the first waking thoughts may well be given to Him whose lovingkindness is new every morning.

If this pain is but a passing trouble, let it drive you to Christ, who forgives sin and makes the inhabitant no longer say, I am sick. If it is something more, the same Christ will be your strength when all your own strength fails. I do pray that you may have wisdom for the body and grace for the soul, and that this strange pain may become a door by which you enter into the healing presence of Jesus.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Do not be alarmed, but do not be careless. Pain on the left side of the belly can arise from the bowel, the muscle, the kidney, or other hidden parts. I cannot tell you its source from words alone, and neither should any man who has not examined you. Go to a physician. That is not a lack of faith; it is using the means God has given.

Yet the hour of the pain is not strange to God. While you slept, your body continued its labor, and in the silence of waking you noticed what the noise of the day had hidden. Many souls grow dull through cares and pleasures, and then a small affliction becomes the voice by which God gets their attention. Do not waste that voice.

Ask not only where the pain came from, but where it may lead you. If it drives you to prayer, it has already done good. If it makes you search your conscience and confess hidden sins, it is better than ease. If it teaches you that this life is short and the body is a tent, not a permanent city, then pain has become a teacher of wisdom. Christ entered the houses of the sick and ate with sinners, not because he approved their condition, but because he came as a physician. Let him enter this condition of yours.

I will ask the Lord to give wisdom to those who examine you and to quiet your fear. But do not seek only relief from pain. Seek the forgiveness of sins and the salvation of your soul. Bodily healing without repentance would leave you whole for a little while and then lose you forever. The greater gain is godliness with contentment, and a conscience ready to meet the Lord. May he grant you a right diagnosis, a good physician, and above all a heart turned to him.

Your note about waking with a strange pain on the left side of your belly is heard, and it is understandable that this would leave you feeling uneasy and looking for answers. Pain that appears suddenly, especially when you first wake, can be worrying, and God sees that concern.

Scripture describes God as the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our afflictions. In the darkest hours, when we are tossed and uncertain and cannot see a clear way forward, He stands by to comfort, to strengthen and to encourage. For those who are going through hard places and difficult nights, He is present to lift and to sustain. That comfort is real in times of trial, sorrow and personal weakness, and it is given so that having received it, we can also share it with others. I pray you will sense that nearness now, not as an idea but as His personal care for you in this discomfort.

The Bible also speaks clearly about healing. The prophet Isaiah said He bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, and Matthew under the guidance of the Holy Spirit applies that directly to the physical healings Jesus performed when many sick people were brought to Him in the evening at Peter's house. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is my body broken for you, He was pointing to that same provision. God does heal, and every kind of healing is from Him. Sometimes healing is immediate, sometimes it is gradual as with the blind man Jesus touched a second time before he saw clearly, and sometimes it comes through the ordinary processes He has built into our bodies. Those natural processes are no less divine, for He created them.

At the same time Scripture does not teach that we should presume healing in every case in the way and timing we expect. Paul prayed three times for the thorn in his flesh, a messenger of Satan that buffeted him, and the Lord did not remove it. There remains much about healing we do not understand, why some are healed quickly and others are not, and we can trust the wisdom of God without demanding an answer.

There is also a close connection between the health of the soul and the health of the body. John prayed for Gaius that he might prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospered, not as a guaranteed promise for every situation but as a loving wish that reflects a true principle. Proverbs says a joyful heart does good like medicine, and we now know how much worry and heaviness can affect the body. The Scriptures were written for our learning so that through patience and comfort from the Word we might have hope. They show us that God is patient in working out His purposes and that He always comes through on His promises, and that gives us hope that He will meet our need.

For this pain, please bring it to the Lord in prayer and also take practical care. If the pain continues, worsens, or concerns you, it is wise to have it evaluated by a doctor promptly. You can ask the Lord to guide those who care for you and to use whatever means He chooses to bring healing and relief. Our bodies are frail and often groan under weakness as part of living in a fallen world, but the real person who trusts Christ is held by Him and will be given a new body in His presence.

Father, thank You that You are the God of all comfort. I ask that You would draw near to this dear one now, ease the fear that comes with unexplained pain, and bring Your peace. Lay Your healing hand upon this body according to Your will. Grant wisdom to know what steps to take and provide strength and patience while waiting. Comfort with the same comfort You have given to so many in trouble, and let hope rise through Your Word. In the name of Jesus, amen.

When I woke up in the morning. All thoughts seemed to come from nothing. I felt like focusing on a thought. How did it feel? There is tension in my mind, no one knows anything. I'm trying to stay away from such thoughts. But then we go again.
