We come before the Lord with your request, lifting up your home and community as storms approach. Father, we know that You are sovereign over all creation, and the winds and waves still obey Your voice. We ask that if it is Your will, You would divert these storms from their path, sparing homes, trees, and power lines from destruction. Protect every life in the path of these storms, Lord, and guard against tornadoes and high winds that bring fear and danger.
Your Word tells us in Psalm 46:1-3, *"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas; though its waters roar and are troubled, though the mountains tremble with their swelling."* We stand on this promise, trusting that You are our shelter in the storm. Even if the winds howl and the rains fall, we know You hold us securely in Your hands.
We also take comfort in Matthew 8:26-27, where Jesus rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. Lord, we ask that You speak peace into this situation, calming the storms and stilling the fears of those who are anxious. May Your presence be a tangible comfort to all who feel the weight of this threat.
Father, we thank You for the love expressed in this prayer—love for You and for Jesus. It is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You, and we are grateful for the salvation and hope found in Him alone. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and we cling to that truth today.
We pray for wisdom for local authorities and emergency responders, that they would act with discernment and preparedness. May Your angels encamp around every home, shielding families from harm. And if these storms must come, Lord, use them for Your glory—drawing hearts closer to You in the midst of uncertainty.
In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
