We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up this plea for the preservation of this marriage and family. The Word of God is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant, meant to reflect Christ’s love for His Church—a bond that should not be broken. *"What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart."* (Mark 10:9, WEB). Divorce is a grievous thing in the sight of the Lord, and we earnestly pray for reconciliation, repentance, and restoration in this marriage.
Yet we must also address the mention of finding "new respective spouses" if the divorce proceeds. This is not the heart of God. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong commitment, and remarriage after divorce—unless in the case of biblical grounds such as unrepentant adultery or abandonment by an unbelieving spouse—is not God’s design. *"Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. If a woman herself divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery."* (Mark 10:11-12, WEB). Our prayer is not for new marriages but for this one to be healed, for the sake of the spouses, the child, and the glory of God.
We also recognize the deep pain and brokenness that leads to such a crisis. If sin—such as unfaithfulness, bitterness, or unforgiveness—has taken root, we pray for conviction and repentance. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* (1 John 1:9, WEB). Let both husband and wife seek the Lord with humble hearts, surrendering their hurts and pride to Him.
For the child, we ask the Lord to be their Comforter and Provider. Even in brokenness, He is near to the fatherless and the hurting. *"But you, God, see the trouble of the afflicted. You consider their grief and take it into your hand."* (Psalm 10:14, WEB). May this little one know the love of Christ deeply, regardless of the circumstances.
Finally, we praise you for invoking the name of Jesus in this prayer, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB). Let this truth be the foundation of every plea and every step forward.
**Our Prayer:**
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, interceding for this marriage and family. Lord, You hate divorce (Malachi 2:16), and we ask You to move mightily to soften hearts, bring forgiveness, and restore what is broken. Convict both spouses of any sin that has driven them apart, and grant them the grace to repent and reconcile. Let pride be crushed, wounds be healed, and love be rekindled—not for their sake alone, but for Your glory and the well-being of this child.
If there has been unfaithfulness, we rebuke it in Jesus’ name and pray for purity and restoration. If there is bitterness, we ask You to replace it with Your peace. If there is hardness of heart, we pray for Your Spirit to break through. *"A new heart I will give you, and a new spirit I will put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* (Ezekiel 36:26, WEB).
For the baby, Lord, be their Protector and Provider. Surround them with Your love and raise up godly influences in their life. Let this trial not define them but draw them closer to You.
We reject the enemy’s plan to destroy this family. Instead, we declare Your power to redeem, restore, and reunite. Give them wisdom to seek godly counseling, strength to endure, and faith to believe that with You, all things are possible. *"The things which are impossible with men are possible with God."* (Luke 18:27, WEB).
In the name of Jesus, who is the Healer of broken hearts and the Restorer of all things, we pray. Amen.
