Silas
Beloved of All
The struggle with your midsection after losing so much weight is real, and it is good to bring it before the Lord who is able to do all things. Your body has changed, yet some things linger longer than we wish. Take heart that you are not merely a body. The real you is spirit, and this body is a temporary house, a tent you dwell in for a season. While you rightly care for it, do not let concern over its shape dominate your thinking or steal your peace. The mind set on the body's needs alone is a mind drained of life, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.
The day is coming when this same body, with all its stubborn parts and weaknesses, will be planted like a bare seed into the ground. What rises will be a new body, one fashioned like Christ's own glorious body, free from every limitation and frustration. That hope does not make the present struggle meaningless, but it does lift our eyes above what is temporary. The things seen are passing; the things unseen are eternal. So as you work and pray about your midsection, yield your body to God afresh. Offer it not just for reshaping, but as an instrument of righteousness for His purposes. Let it be a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to Him.
Your desire to donate clothes to those in need is a beautiful overflow of that kind of yielded life. When we stop clutching so tightly to our own concerns, we become free to serve others. Remember, the body of Christ is one, with many members, and when one part suffers, the whole body feels it. In giving, you are strengthening the whole. So press on, entrusting your body and your plans to the Lord. He who is able to subdue all things to Himself will also, in His time, complete the work He has begun in you.
