So a story is told about a troubled area deep in the South American jungle where militia-type groups had run amok breeding destruction wherever they went. Their main target were Christians. The congregation along with the elders did not know what to do. Church attendance had dwindled considerably. Some parishioners didn't feel safe to attend church anymore.

One Sunday morning in a small modest church in a village nestled in the midst of the jungle, Christians were praising the Lord and singing joyfully. The church which usually housed about a hundred had been scaled back by half but they were loud nevertheless.

Their music was suddenly disrupted by the unmistakable sound of automatic weapons. About 30 masked militiamen stormed in and commanded everyone to leave. People were reluctant but the intruders persisted with threatening gestures. About two thirds of the congregation fled. The militiamen were angry at the few remaining and shouted louder at them frightening more Christians away.

However, the last ten Christians refused to leave, praising God and praying unceasingly. Never capitulating.

The militia leader removed her mask nodding in agreement with a beautiful smile. We are parishioners from various villages who will not succumb to intimidation by the militia. We are looking for true prayer warriors to pray with us against our enemies. Now let's pray for our villages, let's pray for our brothers and sisters.

God is looking for a few good men and a few good women that will go the distance. Many are called but few are willing to complete their mission.

Heavenly Father I pray that you strengthen our resolve to fulfill our great commission. Let no one stand in our way. Let us fight a good fight of faith!
Amen.

This is a wonderful story; it teaches us to be brave and to stand up for what we believe in. As humans, we know that we will fail and lose hope in adverse circumstances, but this story seriously challenges us to be strong. There is a verse which says, "If you are in the battle for the Lord, Keep on the firing line. If you are to win then bear the cross you must. God will only use the soldiers he can trust. Keep on the firing. Let us not pretend that just because we are Christians we would stand up and be killed. The human nature dictates that our first reaction is either "fight or flight" when we perceive danger. This story serves to strengthen us on our Christian journey. Let us fight the good fight of faith.

You have truly encapsulated the message. Fear is our biggest challenge... the fear of anything and of course the fear of death. Lies are also rooted in fear. We must let go of fear in order to increase our faith and increase truth. This happens for the most part in stages leading up to being at peace with death. O death where is thy sting? The ability to offer one's life for a friend. There is no greater Love. Be bless!

I also ask for prayer concerning a very painful situation in my work. The people I am called to help and must help are listening to voices that undermine me, and this has caused them to look down on me and question my role. I humbly acknowledge that I do not know everything and that I am still...
