Our Father in Heaven, we first pause and thank You "so loving the world You gave Your Only-begotten Son!, Jn 3:16. Thank You "Jesus showed us The Father -- Your Nature," Jn 14:9. May Your Kingdom Come to us & through us with FRUIT of The Holy Spirit, see Rom 14:17 on what the Kingdom is -- His Righteousness, peace and joy, therefore ALL the fruit is an extension of His Kingdom, from LOVE, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, Gal 5:22-23, truth, humility & justice, Ps 45:4, contentment, Lk 3:14, 1 Tim 6:6, Heb 13:5, Phil 4:11-13, doing justly, loving mercy and walking humbly with God, Micah 6:8. You desire mercy, not sacrifice, Hos 6:6. We ask for the GIFTS of The Spirit to be evident in us, our churches, families, and to Your people throughout the world, from ministry GIFTS to equip The Body of Christ through Your Gospel Officers until we reach unity in faith and knowledge of The Son of God and the mature stature of Christ Himself, Eph 4:12-13, (which has not yet happened so such workers must of necessity still be present and are much needed, even required, (again, see the reason they're given and conclude we haven't reached The Lord's goal yet, so they're still needed), Eph 4:13, apostles, (missionaries/church planters), prophets, (encouragers/exhorters/visionaries), evangelists, pastors and teachers), Eph 4:11-13, to The GIFTS of miracles (signs, wonders), healings, faith, prophecy, words of wisdom, knowledge, tongues, interpretation of such tongues, administration, leadership, giving, mercy, discerning of spirits, Rom 12:5-8, 1 Cor 12:4-11. May Your Son return and the Kingdom flourish, being fully manifest. Come quickly Lord Jesus, Rev 22:17, Rev 22:20. Mostly the POWER to live a Holy Life overflowing with LOVE for God and others, singing and making melody from "singing seminaries" and "the walking practice of evangelism" is the best fruit and sign of the Kingdom, Heb 12:4. ***We also want to ask for Jesus' Return, so we may experience a whole other realm (I refer to it as 8.0 based upon the 7 covenants God revealed in Redemptive History (whether they all dealt with us individually or not is irrelevant, they are still part of the history of redemption when humans had workings and dealings with God expressing His thoughts toward humans, the New Covenant -- "the already "is the 7th, where we are redeemed, have peace with God, are indwelt with the Holy Spirit, are part of "New Creation" though only a "foretaste of the good things to come." The change our bodies will incur and all creation eagerly awaits is our hope in Romans 8 and latter Revelation and is the 8th I'm calling 8.0 where ALL of these things will be realized in a greater capacity and duration and God's Kingdom will have full expression once it's fully come on earth as it is heaven again -- the "not yet," -- "May Your Kingdom Come and Your Will be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven," Matt 6:10.

May Your Will Be Done on Earth as it is in Heaven -- Keeping in mind the Kingdom Coming, as described above, in differing degrees, the already and the not yet, we ask here in the already that we may know, submit to and do Your will for our lives individually and collectively as the church, as Jesus did during His time on earth, Phil 2:9-9, our whole lives be increasingly lived to please You, knowing the Trinity, living in Your presence moment by moment, and making You known as a by product, rejoicing in trials and weakness, as well as power demonstrations when it gives You glory, Mt 28:19-20, Rom 1:5, Rom 15:18. May we abide in Christ, with freedom to pray, and power to bear fruit, thereby making disciples, and thus proving we are disciples, John 15:7-8, might bear some fruit wherever we go, Rom 1:13, 1 Cor 9:2, 2 Cor 3:2-3, specifically by going, preaching faith in Jesus suffering and dying for our sins, repentance, baptism, forgiveness of sins and obedience to all that He commanded, being witnesses to these facts under His authority, commission by this union with Jesus through The Holy Spirit, Mark 16:15-16, Luke 24:46-48, Matt 28:19-20, John 20:21, Acts 1:8. May Your will be done on earth as You rule over the church and nations, Ps 22:28, and arrive in fulness at the Return of Christ.

Give us Each Day our Daily Bread: Spiritual -- we can't live by bread alone but every Word of God, Deut 8:3, Matt 4:4, Lk 4:4. Meet our spiritual, emotional, social, physical and financial needs mightily, Phil 4:19, so we can love You with all our heart, soul, mind, will, emotions, physical strength and finances, Mk 12:30, and our neighbors, Mk 12:31, even the lost, Matt 9:36, and even enemies, Matt 5:44, as ourselves -- and see others as Christ, who looked beyond his own interests, to the interests of others, considering others as more important than we, Phil 2:1-5.

Forgive Our Debts as We Forgive Our Debtors... We confess we've sinned against You, Rom 3:23, 1 Jn 1:8, 1 Jn 1:10 (name specific sins and areas of ongoing struggles), and others, receive forgiveness, Lk 1:77, & pray FOR those who sin against us, (by name and specific offenses), asking they'd repent and be saved, Job 42:7-16, entrusting their souls to a faithful creator and recognizing it is He who alone who is in fact the one appointed both to save and to judge, Romans 12:9, 1 Pet 4:19.

Lead us Not into Temptation, but Deliver us from evil... Keep us from temptation and evil, Luke 11:4, sin, 2 Cor 13:7, lies, evil, fear, Zeph 3:13, evil people, imposters, deception, 2 Tim 3:13, false believers, 2 Cor 11:16, 2 Tim 3:5, Tit 1:16, temptation and the evil one, Mat 6:13, Jn 17:15. Give us angelic protection, Ps 91:10-11, Heb 1:14.
For It's Your Kingdom, (Everlasting Kingdom which Cannot Be Destroyed, Dan 7:18), It's Your Power, (All Power in Heaven and Earth has been Given to Me, Matt 28:18), and Your Glory, Forever... (Not unto us O Lord, but unto Your Name Be Glory, Ps 115:1)... We Thank You for hearing, Mk 11:24, Amen, in Jesus' Name, in Him All The Promises of God are Yes and Amen, 2 Cor 1:20.

We join with you in delight over the pattern Jesus gave us when He said Pray like this in Matthew 6:9-13, and we thank our Father for giving us such a clear and beautiful outline for communion with Him. We love how you have divided it as He did, first seeking the Father and His honor, His Kingdom and His will, and then bringing our own needs for provision, forgiveness toward us and through us to others, and deliverance from sin and evil, for this reflects the very heart of Matthew 6:33, But seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

We agree that this prayer was never meant to be mindlessly repeated, for Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 6:7, In praying, don't use vain repetitions as the Gentiles do, but was given as a pattern to be prayed with understanding and faith. As you noted, the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much in James 5:16, when it is fervent and from the heart.

We pause with you to thank our Father who is in heaven, that He so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son in John 3:16, and that through Jesus we have seen the Father in John 14:9. We thank Him that through the shed blood, death, burial, resurrection and ascension of Jesus, we have received the Spirit of adoption, as it is written in Galatians 4:6, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father, and in Galatians 4:7 we are no longer slaves but sons and heirs, and in John 1:12 to all who received Him and believed in His name He gave the right to become children of God. What grace that we may cry Abba, Father, even as Jesus did in Mark 14:36.

We pray with you, Hallowed be Your name. We ask that Your gracious and compassionate name revealed in Exodus 34:6-7 would be honored through our thoughts, words and deeds. May we not take Your name in vain as warned in Exodus 20:7, and may our lives not cause Your name to be blasphemed among others as in Romans 2:24, but may Your glory cover the earth as the waters cover the sea in Habakkuk 2:14, and that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow in Philippians 2:10-11.

We pray, Your Kingdom come. We ask for Your Kingdom to come to us and through us, for the Kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit in Romans 14:17. We ask for the fruit of the Spirit to be evident in us, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control in Galatians 5:22-23, and that we would do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with our God in Micah 6:8. We ask for Your gifts and power to equip Your Body until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God in Ephesians 4:13, for the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power in 1 Corinthians 4:20, and we long for our Lord Jesus to return as we pray Come, Lord Jesus in Revelation 22:20.

We pray, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We ask to know and submit to Your perfect will, presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice in Romans 12:1, abiding in Christ that we may bear much fruit in John 15:7-8, and going to make disciples of all nations in Matthew 28:19-20, proclaiming repentance and forgiveness of sins in Luke 24:47.

We pray, Give us today our daily bread. We acknowledge we do not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God in Matthew 4:4 and Deuteronomy 8:3. We trust You to supply every need of ours according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus in Philippians 4:19, for our spiritual, emotional, physical and daily needs, that we may love You with all our heart, soul, mind and strength in Mark 12:30 and love our neighbor as ourselves in Mark 12:31.

We pray, Forgive us our debts as we also forgive our debtors. We confess that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God in Romans 3:23, and if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us in 1 John 1:9. We ask for grace to forgive from the heart as we have been forgiven, remembering in Matthew 6:14-15 that if we forgive others, our heavenly Father will also forgive us, and we entrust those who have sinned against us to You, not avenging ourselves but leaving room for Your justice and mercy in Romans 12:19.

We pray, Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. We ask that You would keep us from evil and guard us in John 17:15, that no temptation would overtake us beyond what we can bear and that You would provide the way of escape in 1 Corinthians 10:13, and that You would give Your angels charge over us in Psalm 91:11 and Hebrews 1:14.

We close with you rejoicing that Yours is the Kingdom, the power and the glory forever, for Yours is an everlasting Kingdom which shall not be destroyed in Daniel 7:14, and all authority has been given to Jesus in heaven and on earth in Matthew 28:18, and not to us, Yahweh, but to Your name give glory in Psalm 115:1. We thank You that You hear us when we pray according to Your will in Mark 11:24 and that all the promises of God find their Yes in Christ in 2 Corinthians 1:20, and we ask all this in the precious and only name by which we are saved and have access to the Father, Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We appreciate you sharing this pattern that has meant so much to you, wanting to put the Father's name and kingdom before your own needs each day. That desire to pause first and give Him honor is a beautiful place to begin prayer.

We have found it helps to think of prayer less as something to get perfect in one moment and more as training over time, like learning a steady rhythm. Small, regular moments matter more than long, pressured ones. When the heart's motivation is simply to be with the Father, even a brief, honest prayer through one phrase of the pattern can shape us gradually. Over weeks and months that steady practice allows His presence to become more familiar than our worries.

If it would help this week, you might take just one line each morning and linger there for a few minutes before moving on, noticing what God brings to mind for that day and praying it in your own words. No need to rush through the whole outline every time. We find that keeps prayer from feeling like repetition and more like conversation.

Your meditation upon that prayer which our Lord taught His disciples is a token of grace at work within you, for our Saviour gave it not to be mindlessly repeated but as a pattern after which we should fashion our supplications. As it has been well said, this chapter which is commonly called the Lord's Prayer may be called the holy of holies of the word of God, where we are admitted to that secret place where the Son speaks with the Father in closest fellowship of love, and His desire for the sanctification of His people pervades the whole.

You have rightly begun where our Lord begins, with the Father. How great a privilege that we who once were afar off may now cry Abba, Father, by the Spirit of adoption which Christ has poured out from on high. He that showed us the Father, who gave His only begotten Son and shed His blood for our sins, has made us heirs and children of God to all who receive Him and believe on His name. Come then with holy confidence, not as a stranger but as a child, and yet come with reverence, for He is our Father who is in heaven.

Hallowed be Thy name is the first petition, and well does it stand first. Holiness is an essential qualification to fitness for the Lord's service, hence our Lord prayed, Sanctify them through Thy truth, Thy word is truth. To hallow His name is to pray that all His titles and attributes, His gracious and compassionate character revealed in Scripture, may be honoured in our thoughts, words and deeds, and that our lives may not cause that worthy name to be derided among men. May His glory cover the earth as the waters cover the sea, and may Christ be magnified in us.

Your Kingdom come and Your will be done are inseparable. The Kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power, and it is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. We pray therefore for fruit, for love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control, and for truth and humility and justice, and for the gifts with which He equips His church, apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the measure of the stature of Christ. And we pray that His will may be done on earth as it is in heaven, that we may know it, submit to it and do it, abiding in Christ and bearing fruit to His praise, rejoicing both in trial and in power when it gives Him glory. Give us this day our daily bread teaches us our entire dependence. We live not by bread alone but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Private prayer is that pouring out of our sorrows and wants into our Father's ear, and he that is mighty on his knees is mighty everywhere. Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you. He will meet your spiritual and temporal needs according to His riches, that you may love Him with heart and soul and mind and strength, and love your neighbour as yourself.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors brings us to the heart of the gospel. There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. This is a divine forgiveness, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is complete and eternal, obtained through Jesus Christ His Son, and it continues daily, for the act of forgiveness is a continuous one. Yet mark well the condition our Lord has joined to it, for the very prayer that teaches you to ask for mercy bids you say, as we forgive our debtors. Unless you have forgiven others you read your own death warrant when you repeat the Lord's prayer. As you have received the chief of sinners forgiveness, so let it be natural to you to open your hands and forgive those who have sinned against you, praying for them and entrusting them to Him who alone is appointed both to save and to judge.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil is a needful cry for every pilgrim. There is one temptation which exceeds all others, and Satan is skilful in plying it in seasons of unanswered prayer, when he whispers that God's ear is shut and will never move His arm to work deliverance. Let the Christian know that his God is with him and temptation will have little power. The arrow of the Lord's deliverance must be shot, and deliverance is of the Lord though it be accomplished by human instrumentality. Pray therefore to be kept from sin and lies and fear and evil men and false profession and from the evil one himself, and ask for that angelic keeping which is promised, for He shall give His angels charge over thee.

For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever reminds us that all we ask is grounded not in our worth but in His dominion. Your Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom which cannot be destroyed, and all power in heaven and earth is given unto Christ.

Persevere in this pattern. There is a prayer treasury, and we must all put prayers into it. Do not think your standard of a prayer meeting is to be a low one, but go on shooting. Neglect prayer and you will soon discover that all your spiritual powers wax weak, but be much in supplication and you shall find that there is forgiveness, that there is deliverance, and that He heareth us. May the Lord sanctify you wholly through His truth and keep you faithful till His Kingdom come in its fulness.

Your longing to pray as the Lord taught His disciples is itself a good and faithful desire, and it is right that you take His words not as a charm to be repeated without thought, but as a pattern that forms the heart.

When He says Our Father in heaven, He gives a privilege that belongs only to those who have received Christ and been made children by grace. An outsider cannot rightly call God Father, but those who have been washed and adopted through the Son may speak with the confidence of sons, even saying Abba as a child to his father. To say Hallowed be Your name is therefore not only a word of praise, but a prayer that our own thoughts, words and deeds would honor His name, so that it is reverenced and not blasphemed because of us. And to pray Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven is to ask for more than words. The kingdom is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, shown in love, patience, kindness, self control and a life that does justly and loves mercy and walks humbly with God. It is not a matter of talk only, but of power to live a holy life.

To ask for daily bread is to confess that every good thing comes from His hand. We need both the bread that sustains the body and the Word that sustains the soul, for man does not live by bread alone. Ask for what is needful for health and for service, and cut away excess. We are not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, as in gluttony or luxury or vanity in dress, but to seek moderation, that the body may be healthy and the soul free to attend to spiritual things.

Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors reminds us of surpassing mercy. The servant asked only for time, and the master forgave the whole debt. So God does more than we ask, remitting freely when we fall down before Him. Yet this prayer belongs to believers who still need forgiveness after grace, and it binds us to show the same mercy we have received. If we remember our own sins and ask forgiveness, we must also release those who have sinned against us, praying for them and entrusting judgment to God alone.

Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil is a necessary prayer for every day. Temptation is common to all, and no trial has overtaken you that is beyond what is human. God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tried beyond what you are able, but with the temptation He will also make the way of escape, giving patience and a speedy release so that you may endure. Prayer is a great weapon in this daily war. If in the morning you first make God favorable by prayer, you go out to the tasks and battles of the day with security. And if your request seems delayed, do not grow weary. As loving parents sometimes allow a fear to draw a wandering child back to their arms, so God at times lengthens our supplication to train us to persevere and to remain near Him. Continue with one accord, early and late, and do not think you have no need of prayer. Even the strong have need of it, and the prayer of the church helps us when we ourselves are watchful.

For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever is not an empty ending, but a confession of faith that all power in heaven and on earth belongs to Him, and that His everlasting kingdom cannot be destroyed. Therefore pray with understanding, with ardor, and with perseverance, seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all that you need will be added to you.
