Thank you for sharing this honestly and for asking for prayer. It is understandable to feel worn down when you see someone else avoiding work, complaining, leaving others to carry the load, and still receiving favor. God sees what is happening and He cares about both justice and your heart in the middle of it.
Scripture reminds us that we have need of patience, that after we have done the will of God we might receive what He has promised. Those who went before us inherited the promises of God not by faith alone but through faith and patience together. God often allows a season between our prayer and His answer, and in that waiting our faith is tested and strengthened. He does not always respond the moment we ask, but His timing is purposeful.
The Bible also shows us that God Himself is the God of patience and comfort. He is long suffering and patient as He works out His purposes. He waited many years to give Abraham and Sarah the promised son, even when Abraham was past a hundred years old, and He sustained Job through great affliction. James encourages us to be patient as a farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, trusting that the Lord is waiting for the right harvest. The patience and comfort of the Scriptures are meant to give us hope, because hope is inseparable from God.
That same patience is what He calls us to show toward one another. As He has been so patient with each of us, we are to be patient with others, even when it is difficult. This does not mean ignoring what is wrong, but it means not becoming slothful or bitter in your own work. Continue faithfully in the tasks God has given you, as an example of steady love and service, trusting that He notices.
It helps to remember that difficulty is measured by the one who is doing the work. If it were up to you alone to fix this situation, it would feel impossible. But if God is the one working, nothing is too difficult for Him. That is why we are not to trust in our own resources or ability to make things right, but to trust Him to act in His way and time.
I will pray with you that God gives your new manager clear eyes, wisdom and courage to see the situation fairly and to lead with justice and kindness. I will pray that God works in your coworker’s heart to bring maturity and responsibility, and that He guards your heart from resentment and gives you patience, peace and hope as you wait on Him. May He comfort you and establish your heart as you continue to do what is right before Him.
Father, in the name of Jesus we bring this workplace situation to You. You see what is happening and You know the burden this has placed on Your child and others. Grant patience and comfort through Your Word and give hope that You are at work even when we cannot yet see it. Give the new manager discernment and integrity to lead well. Work in every heart involved and help Your child to remain faithful, patient and trusting not in self but in You. We ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.
