Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for an end to spiritual warfare that has targeted me since I was young. Please also pray for an end to vivid, disturbing dreams that I constantly have - which sometimes are related to the warfare and sometimes are not. Please also pray for me because I'm so overwhelmed and every five seconds, there's something else going on in my life between spiritual warfare attacking me and someone always wanting something from me - I just want to be left alone. Please pray for me to have a better schedule and to stop ending my nights so late. Please pray that God would lead me to new jobs - and possibly the ability to have at least two jobs, one primary and an extra one. I am considering staying now at the jobs I currently have. Please pray for wisdom for me about this and that all issues I have with these jobs would get better for me and my coworkers. Please pray for me to be set free from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate sexual thoughts which I keep giving in to especially while falling asleep - and which the enemy seems to be directly increasing temptation toward. The sexual thoughts are really becoming a serious problem in my life and I'm so ashamed. God set me free from sexual sin before. I'm so sad to be falling into it again. 💔 I think because I'm struggling with depression right now, I'm using those thoughts as an outlet. Please pray. Pray that the African American community would be set free from false teachings. Pray for my entire family as we all seem to have the flu - pray that no one caring for me in my sickness would be made sicker while trying to care for me. My dad who was the first one to get sick but was getting better now seems to be coughing a lot again. Please pray for three of my cats - two who were scratching themselves too hard and accidentally caused wounds and the other who was making a strange noise with his mouth the other night but seems fine now. Pray that all my cats would be and stay healthy. I have no money for a vet and don't even know of a good one in our area. We love our pets so much. Please pray that I would stay disciplined in eating according to a diet I have to eat on due to a medical condition. Please also pray for a close friend who has fibromyalgia, alpha thalassemia, blood pressure problems, prostate concerns and asthma. Thank you.

We stand with you in this intense spiritual battle, lifting every burden before the throne of grace. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We rebuke every assignment of darkness against you in the mighty name of Jesus. The vivid and disturbing dreams, the relentless spiritual attacks, the overwhelming demands on your time and energy, these are not from God. He does not bring fear, confusion, or oppression (2 Timothy 1:7). We command every spirit of torment, accusation, and distraction to flee from you now. You are not alone in this fight; the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

The sexual sin you are struggling with grieves the heart of God, but it does not define you. The enemy wants you to believe you are enslaved to these thoughts, but Scripture declares, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13). You have been set free before, and you can be set free again. Confess this sin to the Lord, for He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). Do not let shame keep you in bondage, Jesus bore that shame on the cross so you could walk in freedom. We pray for a hedge of protection around your mind, especially as you fall asleep, that no impure thought would take root. Fill your mind with the Word of God, meditating on it day and night (Psalm 1:2), and take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Your exhaustion and overwhelm are real, and we pray for divine order to come to your schedule. The Lord is not a God of chaos but of peace (1 Corinthians 14:33). Ask Him to show you what to prioritize and what to release. He promises to give you rest when you come to Him weary and heavy-laden (Matthew 11:28). We pray for wisdom regarding your jobs, whether to stay or seek new opportunities. Trust that the Lord will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6) and provide for all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). If you are meant to take on a second job, He will open that door and give you the strength to walk through it.

For your family battling the flu, we pray for complete healing and protection. May the Lord rebuke this sickness and restore strength to your father and to all who are caring for you. "By His stripes, you were healed" (Isaiah 53:5). We also lift up your precious cats, asking the Lord to heal their wounds and keep them in good health. He cares even for the sparrows, and you are of much more value than they (Matthew 6:26). We pray for provision to meet their needs and wisdom to find a trustworthy vet if necessary.

For your friend with chronic illnesses, we ask the Lord to strengthen and sustain him. May he experience the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and find comfort in the Great Physician. We also pray for the African American community, that the Lord would expose and dismantle every false teaching and draw hearts back to the truth of His Word. May the light of the gospel shine brightly, leading many to repentance and faith in Christ.

Now, let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the powerful name of Jesus, the name above every name. We thank You that You hear us and that You are mighty to save. Lord, we lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your deliverance from every spiritual attack. Break every chain, silence every lying voice, and fill him/her with Your peace that passes all understanding. We rebuke the enemy’s influence over his/her dreams and command every spirit of fear, lust, and torment to flee in Jesus’ name.

Father, we confess the sin of sexual impurity and ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Renew a right spirit within him/her, Lord, and restore the joy of Your salvation. Guard his/her mind, especially in moments of weakness, and fill it with Your truth. Help him/her to take every thought captive and to walk in the freedom Christ has purchased.

We pray for divine order in his/her schedule, for wisdom in work decisions, and for provision in every area of need. Heal his/her family from the flu, protect the caregivers, and restore health to the pets. Strengthen his/her friend with fibromyalgia and other ailments, and bring healing according to Your will.

Lord, we ask for discipline in eating and for strength to resist every temptation. Surround him/her with godly community and remind him/her that You are always near. We trust You to complete the good work You have begun in him/her, and we declare that no weapon formed against him/her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We read your request, and our hearts went out to you. The sheer volume of what you’re facing, the spiritual assaults, the exhausting dreams, the crushing sense that as soon as one thing settles another breaks in, makes the simple desire to be left alone so understandable. It’s clear you’re running on empty, and when the tank is that low, even small things feel like an ambush.

One thing that often holds true is that spiritual warfare hits hardest when our physical and emotional reserves are drained. You mentioned depression, and it makes sense that in that fog, sexual thoughts become an “outlet”, an escape that feels automatic. Please don’t add self-hatred to your weariness. Shame only deepens the rut, while honest confession and small, repeated choices of resistance can slowly loosen its grip. Jesus already paid for that shame; He isn’t standing over you with a whip, but kneeling beside you to help you up.

Here is one very concrete, gentle step you might try at bedtime: when the unwanted thoughts begin, don’t wrestle with them directly, that can fuel the fire. Instead, calmly and deliberately place something else in your mind’s path. You could slowly repeat a phrase like “I belong to You, Jesus” or quietly sing a hymn verse you know. Even a few minutes of a peaceful audio Bible or ambient praise music can help redirect your drifting mind. Try this for a few nights and see if it doesn’t begin to push back the habit.

You also spoke of ending your nights so late. Even fifteen minutes of intentional winding down, no screens, no problem-solving, can signal your body to settle. A small, consistent change can be a mercy to your overloaded system.

We’re so glad you asked for wisdom about your jobs; we’ll keep lifting that up. The needs of your family, your cats, and your close friend are not lost on God either. And we hear you on the fatigue of false teaching in your community, that burden matters.

Before we pray, one gentle thought: since you’re navigating depression, it might be wise, alongside prayer, to mention this struggle to a trusted doctor or pastor you respect. There’s no weakness in that.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, You see Your daughter in this long battle. Hold her steady, quiet the noise inside and out so she can catch her breath. Break the patterns of disturbing dreams, and give her a deep, restful sleep. In that drowsy space before sleep, guard her mind and gently turn her heart toward what is pure. Lift the depression just enough to let light in. Grant wisdom about her jobs and restore order to her days. Touch her dad, her household, and those pets with healing. Stay near her friend as well. We place it all into Your strong hands, trusting You. Amen.

The weight you describe is no stranger to the awakened soul, for sin, when it is truly seen, becomes an iron furnace of fear. You speak of falling again into those thoughts which once you thought slain, and the enemy sharpens his arrows at the very point of your old wound. Such is his custom; just where the sin has been, Satan marks, and then he sends a suggestion. You are ashamed, and well you may be, for sin is the most shameful thing that can be. Yet know this: your shame has been borne by Another. The Son of God gave His back to the smiters and His cheeks to them that plucked off the hair; He hid not His face from shame and spitting because He stood in the sinner's place. There is more than enough merit in His shame to put away all your transgression. Let not your sorrow drive you to despair, for when a soul sensible of sin throws itself upon that Sacrifice of the Cross, then sin is pardoned, and the forgiven sinner, being grateful, finds new motive to say, "I will not go on in this sin."

This warfare that has hounded you from youth is not a sign of reprobation but often a token of sonship. Deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of it. You cannot break the spider's webs of early temptation with your own fingers, much less can you snap the iron chains of a second nature formed by long habit. It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy. Those vivid, disturbing dreams which plague your rest are but the shadow of this battle, and they too will flee before the light of His countenance. Did He not lift up the light of His countenance upon you before? Has He not restored you when you made confession? You yourself say He has. The Lord has chastened you sorely, but He has not given you over unto death. This very depression, this overwhelming sense that every five seconds brings a fresh assault, is perhaps His fatherly cure to make you feel that your sin brings sorrow, that you may cling the more desperately to the cross. Unbroken prosperity might be a sign of being given over; these pangs of conscience are not.

Yet you must not content yourself with being a dwarf when you might grow into a giant. Ask for the Spirit's power to smite the ground with the arrows of deliverance, not just once or twice, but until the victory is thorough. You ask for a better schedule, for wisdom concerning your jobs, for discipline in diet, for your sick family and your helpless creatures. These are not trifles to cast before a pitiless sea; He who marks the sparrow's fall numbers the very hairs of your head. Spread them before Him. But alongside these, stretch out the hands of faith for full deliverance from the power of darkness. That maladaptive daydreaming and those thoughts which you give in to while falling asleep, flee to the ransom as though your bed were a battlefield, for so it is. Let the last thought upon your pillow be the wounds of Jesus, for sin is condemned in the flesh and made to appear exceeding shameful when you recollect that it threw Him into the depths of woe.

Stand then upon the solid ground: "I have found a ransom." Because He lives, you shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord. And concerning the false teachings which snare many, and the many burdens you have named both great and small, remember that the ministry of consolation which God sends speaks peace to those who are sorrowing over their sins and seeking Divine deliverance. Lay hold upon it. Go, and sin no more; not in your own strength, but in the strength of Him who brought Israel forth with silver and gold, and among whose tribes there was not one feeble person. When He brings deliverance, He makes it effectual in every deed. Trust Him for it wholly, and let your end be not only an ordered schedule but the declaration of His works, for if you had no troubles, you would have less to declare.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak of a battle that has pursued you from childhood, and I hear in these words the voice of one long exercised in the contest. Do not think this strange, nor imagine that your present trials signal God's abandonment. For as I have said to the faithful, the excess of temptations often proves the depth of love, not its absence. When I sent Timothy to the Thessalonians, it was not because I doubted their steadfastness, but because my love could no longer forbear, fearing even what was safe. So now, your very awareness of the enemy's assault shows that you are still standing in the field, still warring a good warfare.

You ask for an end to these things, and rightly so, yet remember that the faithful Commander often permits temptations precisely to drive us back to His side. When children wander too long in idle play, a wise parent causes sudden fears to arise, that they may flee for refuge to their mother's bosom. So God holds out this threat of spiritual distress not to destroy you, but to draw you to Himself. When you return, He will dispel the terror. Your depression, the burden of constant demands, the late nights and weary schedule, all these have become a kind of thorn in your flesh, a messenger to buffet you. I myself sought deliverance from such a thorn and received instead the promise that grace was sufficient. Do you see? The temptation becomes bearable because He makes the way of escape, even when He does not yet remove the thorn itself.

Concerning the sexual thoughts that trouble your sleep and shame your waking hours, I must speak plainly. You have yielded your members as instruments to a tyrant, when you are meant to serve under a King. This is not the good warfare for which you were chosen. The good warfare requires strong arms, vigilance, and a battle array ready for blood and conflict. The enemy increases his assault as he sees your resistance, for his manner is to apply the heaviest temptations last, hoping to overthrow you by weariness. But the body itself is not evil, it is an arm you may wield for righteousness or for uncleanness. You have let it become an outlet for the depression that presses on you, a false medicine that deepens the wound. Cut away this excess. Drink the salutary medicine of moderation. When the thoughts arise as you fall asleep, flee to prayer, not to imagination. Though you receive no immediate ease, persevere that you may receive. God often delays giving only to teach us to cling to Him continually.

Your cats, your family’s sickness, your father’s cough, your friend’s many ailments, bring all these cares not as separate burdens but as one great cry for mercy. God sees the sparrow’s fall; He numbers the hairs of your head. The fever that sweeps your household is not hidden from Him, nor the simple wounds your pets inflict upon themselves. Yet in these too He may be contriving a lesson of patience and dependence. As for the jobs you weigh, seek wisdom where alone it is found. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, the maladaptive daydreams, the dreams of this life present, and put on the armor of light. End your nights earlier not merely for health, but that you may rise ready for the day, dressed in good works rather than wandering in slumbering fantasies.

Rise up now, soldier. The Commander stands by, ever ready to help. He has not abandoned you to the enemy’s power, nor will He suffer you to be tempted above what you are able to bear. The shame you feel is not without purpose if it drives you to repentance. You were set free before; you can be set free again. The former deliverance was real, and this present fall does not erase what God has done. Only do not despair. When the waves rise thick as snowflakes, as they did when I once sailed for that great city, the task is not to count the dangers but to stay ready-minded, fixed on the Gospel. So fix your hope on the Resurrection, and in all things, the African American community, your family, your friend’s prostate and blood pressure, bring them before the throne with the confidence that He who has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
