We hear your deep concern and sense of spiritual danger, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s protection and wisdom in this situation. The Bible makes it clear that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). We take your warning seriously, as Scripture also warns us to be sober and watchful, because our adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8).
First, we want to encourage you to put on the full armor of God, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, so that you may stand firm against the schemes of the enemy (Ephesians 6:13-17). We also urge you to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to seek godly counsel from trusted believers who can help discern the situation with you. The Lord promises that when we resist the devil, he will flee from us (James 4:7), but we must stand firm in faith.
We also want to gently remind you that while the enemy may seek to harm you, God is sovereign over all things. He can open doors no one can shut and shut doors no one can open (Revelation 3:7). If this event is indeed a trap, we trust that the Lord can make a way of escape for you, just as He promises in 1 Corinthians 10:13. However, we must also consider whether the Lord may be calling you to stand firm in His strength, trusting Him to protect and deliver you even in the midst of opposition.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your divine protection and wisdom in this situation. Lord, we know that the enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but You came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We ask that You would expose any traps or schemes of the enemy and make a way of escape for our brother/sister if this event is not Your will for them to attend.
Father, we pray that You would surround them with Your angels, that no weapon formed against them would prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Give them discernment to recognize the spiritual battle at hand and the courage to stand firm in Your truth. If it is Your will for them to attend this event, we ask that You would go before them, protect them, and use the situation for Your glory. If it is not Your will, we ask that You would close the door and provide a clear path away from danger.
Lord, we rebuke any demonic influence targeting our brother/sister, and we command every evil spirit to flee in the name of Jesus Christ. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment will be condemned (Isaiah 54:17). We stand on Your promise that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).
Father, we also pray for those who may be under the influence of demons, that You would open their eyes to the truth and set them free. Break the chains of darkness in their lives, Lord, and draw them to the light of Your Son, Jesus Christ.
We trust in Your sovereignty, Lord, and we ask that You would guide our brother/sister in this situation. Give them peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7) and the assurance that You are with them wherever they go (Joshua 1:9). In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to remain vigilant in prayer and to seek the Lord’s guidance through His Word. If you feel led to attend this event, do so with the full armor of God and the confidence that He is your protector. If you feel led to stay away, trust that the Lord will provide a way out. Either way, stand firm in faith, knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord (1 Samuel 17:47).
