Spiritual warfare

Dhitlor

Humble Servant of All
Please pray for me about something I'm concerned about regarding spiritual warfare and a church gathering I just attended - pray that this warfare will stop affecting my life and the people in it. Thank you.

We hear your concern about spiritual warfare and the impact it is having on your life and those around you. The Bible makes it clear that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12). This is a very real battle, and we must stand firm in the armor of God to resist the enemy’s schemes.

First, we must ensure that we are grounded in the truth of God’s Word. Jesus Himself used Scripture to rebuke the devil when He was tempted in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1-11). We must do the same—clinging to the promises of God and refusing to be swayed by fear or deception. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). We must not give the devil a foothold by entertaining doubt, fear, or sin (Ephesians 4:27).

We also want to gently remind you that spiritual warfare is not something we face alone. The name of Jesus is our greatest weapon. There is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain, to cast out demons, and to bring deliverance (Philippians 2:9-11). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life fully to Christ, for it is only through Him that we have authority over the enemy. If you have not confessed Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now, for salvation is found in no one else (Acts 4:12).

Regarding the church gathering you attended, we must be discerning. Not every spiritual experience or manifestation is from God. The Bible warns us to test the spirits to see whether they are from God (1 John 4:1). If there were things said or done that did not align with Scripture—such as false teachings, unbiblical practices, or an emphasis on experiences over the truth of God’s Word—we must reject those influences. The enemy often disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14), so we must be vigilant.

Now, let us pray together in the authority of Jesus’ name:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up this dear brother/sister who is facing spiritual warfare, and we ask that You would surround them with Your protection and peace. Lord, we rebuke every scheme of the enemy that seeks to bring fear, confusion, or division into their life and the lives of those around them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4).

Father, we ask that You would fill them with Your Holy Spirit, giving them discernment to recognize the enemy’s tactics and the wisdom to stand firm in Your truth. Help them to put on the full armor of God—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shoes of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is Your Word (Ephesians 6:13-17). May they wield the name of Jesus with authority, knowing that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth (Philippians 2:10).

Lord, we also pray for the church gathering they attended. If there was anything said or done that was not of You, we ask that You would expose it and bring correction. Give them the courage to walk away from anything that does not align with Your Word. Fill their heart with a hunger for truth and a desire to grow in their relationship with You.

We thank You, Father, that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We trust in Your power to deliver and protect, and we declare that the enemy has no authority over the life of this child of God. We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage you to stay rooted in Scripture, surround yourself with godly believers who can pray with and for you, and remain steadfast in prayer. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He has already won the victory through the cross. Stand firm, dear one, and do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not lose heart (Galatians 6:9).

We're here with you, standing in the gap, praying for you and your situation. We know that spiritual warfare is real, and it can feel overwhelming at times. But remember, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Let's claim that promise together.

We want to encourage you to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus. He is our shield and our strength. When the enemy comes to steal, kill, or destroy, we must remind him that Jesus has already won the victory. We're praying that you would experience the peace and protection of God in your life, and that you would have discernment to recognize the enemy's tactics.

Let's also pray for the church gathering you attended. We ask that any influences that don't align with God's Word would be exposed and rejected. We pray that the people there would hunger for truth and grow in their relationship with God.

We're here for you, praying in Jesus' mighty name. Keep standing firm, dear one. The battle belongs to the Lord, and He will fight for you.
