Spiritual theft

John 10:10: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." This morning I woke up and Lord warns me of spiritual theft in my life that's been going on for a long time. So I prayed and asked the Lord to point out the sources of such trasgressions. Turns out all my surrounding neighbors, who recently moved in just a few years ago, are from Northern Vietnam. Now from what I've heard Northern Vietnam is communists and they are known to be quite SUPERSTITIOUS. When they move here they brought along with them WEIRD cultic satanic spirits, prejudices, and beliefs, including but not limited to: trù ẻo- curse someone or wish bad luck, misfortune, or harm upon another person. xin vía, nhả vỉa, trộm vía - spiritual theft ghét của nào trời cho của đó- what you loathe you are given word play shenanigans- gay means happy, so if someone is happy people automatically assume they're gay. compulsory marriage people believe they're snakes because the shape of the country looks like the letter S. zodiac- people are supposed to behave like the animal from the year they're born to. men are supposed to be talented while to women physical attractiveness is everything. If a guy is good looking, he's automatically labeled gay. If a girl is too good at what she's doing she's a lesbian. praying alone equals autism. prejudice about people who lift weights or do lots of physical work being low class, uneducated, crimimal, rapists, narcissists, gay etc. High level education equals insanity. People will try to drive you crazy when they know you're highly educated. Không thầy đố mày làm nên- You cannot achieve success without a teacher. But Satan twists such that the meaning changes. Where I live if you don't pay someone to guide you people will try to intefere and ruin your efforts. Được cái này mất cái kia- to gain something you must lose something. etc.. Please pray that the Lord God casts out such demonic interferences in my life and restores what Satan stole from me. In Jesus name Amen.

We join with you in bringing this burden before the Lord and we thank you for sharing so openly what has been weighing on your heart. We hear your concern about spiritual theft and we agree that the thief does indeed come only to steal and kill and destroy, but Jesus said I have come that they may have life, and may have it abundantly in John 10:10. We stand with you on that promise that in Christ we are not left defenseless or without hope of restoration.

We want to gently speak to a part of your request with love and truth. While we understand you have felt oppressed and have been seeking to discern the source, we must be careful not to attribute demonic activity to an entire group of people based on their origin or culture. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places in Ephesians 6:12. Your neighbors, whether from Northern Vietnam or anywhere else, are people made in the image of God who need the same grace we do. Jesus calls us to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you in Matthew 5:44. We encourage you not to live in suspicion or prejudice toward them, but to see them with Christ’s compassion while still standing firm against any true spiritual darkness.

It is true that superstitions, curses, word curses like tru eo, practices like xin via, and beliefs tied to the zodiac, compulsory marriage ideas, or other folk traditions have no power over a child of God who abides in Christ, unless we give them power through fear. The Scripture assures us that greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world in 1 John 4:4 and that no weapon that is formed against you will prevail in Isaiah 54:17. He who was born of God keeps himself, and the evil one does not touch him in 1 John 5:18. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7. When we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil, he will flee from us in James 4:7. Many of the things you listed, such as the idea that education equals insanity, that praying alone equals autism, that physical work makes someone low class or immoral, or that a person must act like their zodiac animal, are not biblical truth but empty deceptions and traditions of men that we are called to reject and not to fear.

We also rejoice that you ended your request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me in John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved in Acts 4:12. Your confidence in His name is well placed.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and deliverer. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, and that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty in Psalm 91:1. We ask You to surround our dear brother or sister with Your peace and to guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We renounce every work of darkness, every curse, every word spoken to steal, every superstition and deceitful philosophy that does not align with Your truth. We declare that these things have no authority over one who belongs to You. We ask You to break any assignment of the enemy intended to steal joy, health, purpose, relationships, or provision, and we ask You in Your mercy to restore what has been lost, for You have promised I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten in Joel 2:25. Fill this home with Your light, let no darkness remain, and let Your abundant life flow freely. Help our friend to walk not in fear or suspicion toward neighbors, but in love and discernment, to overcome evil with good in Romans 12:21, and to be a witness of Your grace to those around them. Teach them to put on the whole armor of God daily, to stay rooted in Your Word, to pray without ceasing, and to fellowship with other believers for strength. We trust You as our protector and restorer. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to fix your eyes on Christ rather than on the fear of what others may be doing. Stay in the Word daily, pray aloud the promises of God over your life and home, and if possible walk with a mature pastor or believers who can pray with you in person and help you test every spirit in 1 John 4:1. Do not give place to superstition by dwelling on it, but dwell on what is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and of good report in Philippians 4:8. The Lord is faithful to keep you and to restore you, and we stand with you for His fullness of life to be evident in you.

We have been sitting with your note and hearing how heavy the sense of loss has felt for you, especially waking up with that warning about theft and then trying to trace where it is coming from.

We understand why all those sayings and superstitions you have been hearing around you would feel unsettling. It is easy, when we are carrying that worry, to start watching our neighbors closely and connecting every hardship to their background or beliefs. We want to gently encourage you not to carry the weight of trying to decode each one or to figure out every spiritual source on your own. Our security is not found in getting all those answers, but in staying close to Christ and walking in steady, simple ways with Him.

One thing that has helped others is to bring these concerns to a trusted pastor or mature believer in person, not to chase the explanations further alone, but to have someone who knows you pray with you, help you stay grounded, and keep your focus on Christ's care and provision. Staying connected in regular fellowship, prayer, and time in the Word with others can be a steady anchor when thoughts feel tangled.

Father, we lift our brother to You and ask for Your peace to guard his heart and mind. Quiet fear and confusion, and lead him into wisdom, clarity, and rest in Your presence. Cover what concerns him, provide for his needs, and guide his steps day by day as he trusts You. In Jesus' name, Amen.

It is good that you have turned to the Lord Jesus Christ in your trouble, for He alone is the deliverer from the power of darkness and He has come that His sheep may have life, and have it more abundantly. The thief indeed comes to steal and to kill and to destroy, but our hope is not in tracing every wind of superstition, but in Him who has found a ransom and who brings His people forth by His own hand.

You speak of long theft and of many fears gathering round you, of curses and word play and strange beliefs concerning stars and birth years and outward appearance and success. Be assured of this, deliverance from the power of sin and from the oppression of the enemy is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification and for keeping. He brought Israel forth from Egypt, not they themselves, and He makes their deliverance effectual. If you are in Christ, you need not live in dread of charms or zodiac tales or the shape of a land or the whisperings of men, for greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Those things are vanity, and to give them power over your peace is to be entangled again where Christ would make you free.

Take care also lest a fear of your neighbors become a snare to your own soul. It is not wise nor Christlike to lay upon a whole people, because they come from one region or hold a political creed, the charge of satanic power against you. The Lord commands us to love our neighbors and to pray for those who are near to us, and to overcome evil with good. If any among them walk in superstition or unbelief, they are to be pitied and prayed for, that they also may know the salvation which is through Jesus Christ alone. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, and our deliverance will not come by suspicion of men, but by looking altogether and alone to our heavenly Father through the blood of the Lamb that was slain.

Therefore cast your burden upon Christ and rest in His finished work. He has found a ransom, He has paid it, and the clock of mercy strikes in heaven the hour of deliverance for those who trust Him. Seek not success by a teacher hired for gain, but by the teaching of the Holy Spirit through the Word. Seek not to read your life in the stars, but in the Scriptures, where your name is written in the covenant of grace if you are His. Let prayer and the Word and a holy life be your guard, and let your conduct afterward be to live and to declare the works of the Lord, for if we had no troubles we would have less to declare.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, who delivers from the pit and from the power of darkness, look upon this Your servant who feels long stolen from and oppressed. In the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is the way of salvation, cast out every evil influence and break every chain of sin and superstition and fear. Restore what the locust has eaten, give peace where there has been turmoil, and make this soul to know that deliverance is of free grace only and that You bring forth Your people with Your own hand. Keep this one from uncharitable thoughts and give love for neighbors, and if they know You not, draw them also to the light of the gospel. Establish the heart in truth, in sobriety and in holiness, and let this affliction become a song of deliverance, that henceforth he may not die but live and declare Your works. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

I have heard your prayer and I join you in bringing it before the Lord, who alone gives life and restores what has been broken.

The Scripture you quoted is true and precious. The thief in John 10:10 is the devil, not flesh and blood, and Christ has come that you may have life to the full. He accomplishes two great things for us, deliverance from evil and supply of good, rescuing us from the curse and bringing us into adoption as sons through faith in Him and through putting on Christ. When we belong to Him, we have received the Spirit of adoption and no curse, no zodiac, no word play, no folk saying and no superstition can separate us from His hand.

For that reason I must speak to you plainly in love about one part of your burden. Your neighbors who have come from Northern Vietnam are not the source of spiritual theft. They are people made in the image of God, for whom Christ died, and He commands us to love our neighbors and to pray for their good. To attribute satanic power to an entire people or region, or to believe that their presence itself brings curses upon you, is not the teaching of Scripture. It will lead you into fear and prejudice, and it will keep you from the very love and witness Christ calls you to. The enemy is the devil, and our warfare is not against flesh and blood. We resist the devil by submitting to God, by standing in faith, by the Word of God and by prayer, not by blaming those who live around us.

Many of the ideas you listed are indeed empty and should be rejected, but not because a particular group holds them. They should be rejected because they are not true according to Scripture. A word that means happy does not determine who a person is. A person's appearance or skill or education does not determine their moral character or their sexual behavior. Physical work and strength are honorable before God, and education is a gift to be used with humility, not a mark of insanity or pride. Praying alone is not a disorder but a duty and a privilege for every Christian. The shape of a country, the year of a person's birth, and sayings about gaining and losing do not govern your life. Christ governs it. You do not need to pay a man to secure success, nor do you need to live in fear that others will ruin you if you do not. The Lord is your teacher and shepherd, and He gives wisdom generously to those who ask Him.

God's design for humanity is also clear and good. Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and He calls every person to repent and believe in Him. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and sexual union belongs within that covenant alone. This is not a prejudice but the Creator's pattern for our good. At the same time we are not to label others hastily or use terms like gay or lesbian as insults for those who are simply joyful, gifted, or good looking. We are to speak truth with purity and with love, honoring all people while holding fast to what God has said about holiness.

So let us pray together for what you truly need, deliverance from all evil, freedom from fear and superstition, and restoration in Christ.

Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, I ask You to have mercy on this Your child. Forgive sins and cleanse the heart from fear, from resentment toward neighbors, and from trust in empty beliefs. Resist the devil on his behalf, and cause every deceiving spirit to flee. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, with light and discernment from Your Word, and with love for those around him. Where the enemy has stolen peace, health, time, or hope, restore according to Your abundant grace, for Christ came to give life to the full. Teach him to walk in truth, to pray with confidence whether alone or with others, to work faithfully with his hands and mind for Your glory, and to rest in Your providence without fear of curses or omens. Help him to love his neighbors, to bless and not curse, and to show them the hope of the gospel. Keep him steadfast, not despising suffering but trusting that You can make even trials serve Your purpose and lead to a better resurrection. I ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Continue in the Word daily, pray in the name of Jesus, gather faithfully with a sound church, and seek counsel from a wise pastor who can walk with you. If fearful thoughts return, answer them with Scripture and with prayer, and choose to do good to those near you. The Lord is near to all who call upon Him in truth, and He will keep you.
