Spiritual restoration

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, I return to You with my whole heart. Jesus Christ, restore what has been weakened in me during these ### days without prayer. Renew my hunger for Your presence, rebuild my prayer life, and restore my faith, discipline, peace, and purpose. Help me walk closely with You again and remain faithful to my calling. Amen.“He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:3

We rejoice with you as you return to the Father with your whole heart, for this is exactly what He desires and what He promises to honor when we draw near to Him.

Your cry for restoration is beautiful to the Lord and we join you in it, asking Jesus Christ to renew what has grown weak in you during this season without prayer. The Lord does not cast away a repentant heart that turns back to Him. As you quoted, He restores my soul, Psalm 23:3, and He also promises, Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you, James 4:8. Your hunger for His presence can be renewed because He is the one who gives that hunger in the first place.

We are encouraged by your honesty. Many believers walk through dry seasons where discipline wavers and prayer grows quiet, but God in His mercy does not leave us there. He says, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me, Psalm 51:10, and I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, Joel 2:25. His mercies are new every morning and great is His faithfulness, Lamentations 3:23. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9.

We encourage you to rebuild your prayer life with steady, simple faithfulness rather than striving in your own strength. Set apart a consistent time each day to meet with the Lord, even if it begins with a short time, and let the Word of God feed your prayers. Abide in His Word daily, for faith comes by hearing the Word. Do not grow weary in well doing, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up, Galatians 6:9. And remember, those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength, Isaiah 40:31. Walk closely with Him again one day at a time, trusting His grace to keep you faithful to your calling.

We pray together for you now.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we thank You for this dear one who is returning to You with a whole heart. We ask You to restore what has been weakened and to pour out a fresh hunger for Your presence. Rebuild their prayer life, Lord, and restore their faith, discipline, peace and purpose. Wash away any condemnation and fill them again with Your Holy Spirit. Create in them a clean heart and renew a right spirit within them. Help them to walk closely with You again, to hear Your voice, to remain faithful to the calling You have placed on their life, and to find their soul fully restored in Your presence. Keep them steadfast and grounded in Your Word and lead them in paths of righteousness for Your name's sake. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray, Amen.

We hear your heart in this prayer, returning wholeheartedly and wanting closeness again after those days without prayer. That desire itself is a sign God is already at work restoring you.

It helps to remember restoration is usually training, not trying. Trying to make up for lost time all at once can leave us discouraged, while training is small, steady steps over time that slowly rebuild strength. Seeing yourself as a work in progress takes pressure off and lets faithfulness grow.

One simple way to rebuild this week is to choose one small, repeatable rhythm rather than many. Perhaps ten minutes at the same time each day, in the same quiet spot, to simply be with the Lord, talk honestly, and read slowly through a psalm. If you miss a day, just begin again the next day without guilt. Consistency in little things does more than intensity now and then.

We are praying with you and thank God for your hunger to walk closely and stay faithful to your calling. He is patient as you return.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. You see this wholehearted return. Renew hunger for Your presence, rebuild daily prayer, and restore peace and purpose step by step. Keep them close to You and faithful in the calling You have given. Amen.

Your return to the Lord with your whole heart is itself a token of His grace at work within you, for He restores the soul that turns to Him. You have prayed well, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace.

You ask that what has been weakened during these days without prayer may be restored, and the Scripture you have quoted is your comfort, He restores my soul. Psalm 23:3. Know that the spiritual life and the walk of faith go together. The life of faith is receiving Christ Jesus the Lord, and the walk of faith is so to walk in Him. The one is the root, the other is the fruit. Faith is the fruitful root, the inward channel of sap, the great life grace in every branch of the vine. If faith grows exceedingly, then the life also is increasing in power. If faith diminishes, the vital spark burns low. Therefore see to faith first, for if we fail in faith we shall fail everywhere, as the heart is to the body, so is faith to religion, out of it are the issues of life.

You lament a season without prayer, and a weakened hunger for His presence. Walk implies action, and the Lord calls you not only to receive Christ but to walk in Him day by day. When prayer, praise and the reading of the Word are done in faith, they become helpful to your spiritual life, but if faith is left out they are but husks without wheat. Even little faith, when it finds itself in trouble, betakes itself to prayer. Peter began to sink and prayed, Lord, save me. Little faith is great at pleading in prayer, and our Lord acknowledges the prayer, Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Bring that prayer to Him now, just as you are.

Affliction and spiritual dryness often give new life to prayer. Trials give new life to prayer, and there is no happier period than the state of convalescence, when the sick man gradually recovers his former strength after a long illness. The Lord who is all sufficient in power to accomplish His own purposes is able to rebuild what is broken, to renew hunger, to restore discipline, peace and purpose, and to make you to live as ever under your Father's eye, not with formal words but with a sincere heart that abhors hypocrisy and seeks to be what it professes to be.

We pray for you that the Holy Spirit, who is the Creator of faith within you, would cause faith to roll in again as a flood tide of full assurance, and that the secret life floods within you would rise and fill you with sacred energy. May He rebuild your prayer life, restore your faith, establish you in holy discipline, quiet your heart with His peace, and make your calling clear and steadfast before you.

Heavenly Father, look upon this returning heart and restore what has been weakened. Forgive the days of wandering and coldness, and renew a hunger for Your presence. By faith form Christ within as the hope of glory, keep what You have given, and teach this soul to walk in Christ in daily action, in prayer, in the Word, in obedience. Restore faith where it has grown dim, restore discipline where it has faltered, restore peace where it has been troubled, and restore purpose that Your name may be glorified in a faithful walk to the end. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who died instead of us that exiles might be restored to their inheritance. Amen.
