Sometimes, when traveling during my conventional roles in the corporate realm, I would encounter people who insisted that my hometown was "Lame." That never set too well me. Many times I found myself, in "heated debate," attempting to defend her. Howbeit, given my current experience in my hometown, I almost succumbed to that mindset. But, I'm going to defend her again, somewhat. My hometown is not lame. There is a wealth of skill, talent, and yes, even intellect here. But...
"Houston, YOU do, indeed, have a problem."

Like Rome and Jerusalem, in Jesus's era, this city has some the most opulent church buildings in the land. Yet, there is an obvious deficiency. My hometown is spiritual lazy, vengeful, and a bit arrogant. That's a "dangerous combination" and sure recipe for defeat and disaster. Spiritual laziness makes you vulnerable, leaving you easily misled, and wide open to the devil's devices.

Start with the basics. The golden rule: "Do to others as you would have them do to you." Luke 6:31 (NIV)
Orphans — Widows — Elders
The least of these My brothers
Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers."

You don't beat up on fellow servants, spiritually or otherwise; and certainly not an elder.

Jesus replied, “My mother and my brothers are all those who hear God’s word and obey it.” Luke 8:21 (NLT)

Necessary Reading: Luke Ch. 6 v.30-40 (Jesus's instructions for his followers)
