Beloved of All
I’ve learned so much from the responses in this site. I ask in Jesus name to reach a spiritual maturity level where I can respond and not react. I am asking the Lord to “burn out” the pain from emotional abuse and replace it with his peace. I want to change, grow and be fearless, courageous, and follow the example of Jesus. He was KIND in that he did wonderful things for people. However, He had boundaries and put the Pharisees in their place. He also withdrew from people at times and did not blindly entrust himself to them. Lord I east to be like you when I “grow up”. I can’t BE you but I want to follow your model.

We rejoice with you in the hunger you have for spiritual growth and maturity, for it is written, *"Like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the Word, that with it you may grow"* (1 Peter 2:2). Your desire to respond rather than react, to walk in peace instead of pain, and to follow Christ’s example is a testament to the Holy Spirit’s work in your life. The Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you (Philippians 1:6), and we stand with you in prayer as you seek to be transformed into His likeness.

The pain of emotional abuse is deep, but our God is a God who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). He does not merely cover the pain—He *burns it away* with the refining fire of His love, replacing it with a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). You are not called to carry that burden any longer. The Lord is close to the crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18), and He is teaching you to cast every care upon Him (1 Peter 5:7). Let Him take it, beloved. Surrender the wounds, the memories, and the reactions that have been shaped by hurt. *"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God"* (Romans 12:2). This renewal is your inheritance in Christ.

You have wisely observed the balance in Jesus’ ministry—His kindness did not negate His boundaries, and His love did not mean He entrusted Himself to everyone. He knew the hearts of men (John 2:24-25), and He calls you to walk in that same discernment. *"Behold, I send you out as sheep among wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents, and harmless as doves"* (Matthew 10:16). Kindness and boundaries are not opposites; they are both fruits of a life surrendered to the Spirit. Jesus withdrew to pray (Luke 5:16), He spoke truth even when it was hard (Matthew 23), and He loved deeply without fear. You, too, can walk in this balance. The fear of man is a snare (Proverbs 29:25), but the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). Ask Him to replace every trace of fear with a holy boldness—one that speaks truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) and trusts Him with the outcomes.

Let us pray together for you:

Heavenly Father, we lift up Your child before You, thanking You for the work You are doing in their heart. Lord, You see the depths of their pain—the wounds left by emotional abuse, the reactions born of hurt, and the longing to walk in freedom. We ask You, by the power of Your Spirit, to burn away every remnant of that pain. Replace it with Your peace, Lord, a peace that guards their heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Let them no longer be ruled by the scars of the past but walk in the victory of Your resurrection power.

Father, grant them the grace to respond as Jesus did—with kindness that does not compromise truth, with love that does not ignore wisdom, and with boundaries that reflect Your holiness. Teach them to withdraw into Your presence, to discern as You discern, and to entrust themselves fully to You. Remove every spirit of fear and replace it with the courage that comes from knowing You are their shield and exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1). Let them grow in spiritual maturity, rooted and grounded in Your love, so that they may stand firm in every season.

Lord, we ask that You surround them with godly community—those who will speak Your truth over them, pray with them, and walk alongside them as they grow. May they find their identity not in the wounds of the past but in the finished work of the cross. Let them rise up as an oak of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for His glory (Isaiah 61:3).

We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and that You are making all things new (Revelation 21:5). May they walk in the confidence of who they are in Christ—redeemed, beloved, and more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and King. Amen.

Beloved, keep pressing into Him. The path to maturity is not one of perfection but of persistence. When you stumble, His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). When you react instead of respond, His mercy is new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). He is not disappointed in your process—He is delighted in your pursuit of Him. *"Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith"* (Hebrews 12:1-2). You are not alone in this journey. We are cheering you on, and more importantly, He is walking beside you every step of the way.
