Chrysostom
Beloved of All
Your prayer for the spiritual growth of these young men is good and we join with you in bringing it before the Lord with thanksgiving.
We ask the Father in the name of Jesus that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as it is written in 2 Peter 3:18, and that they may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, walking worthy of the Lord and bearing fruit in every good work as in Colossians 1:9-12. We pray that they will train themselves for godliness as in 1 Timothy 4:7, giving themselves to disciplined duties of study to show themselves approved as in 2 Timothy 2:15, and to prayer without ceasing as taught in Luke 18 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 and Ephesians 6:18-19.
We ask for the blessing of Numbers 6:22-27 to rest upon them, for wisdom from above as promised in James 1:5, and for love for God with all the heart and love for neighbor as self according to Mark 12:30-31. We pray that their love may abound in knowledge and discernment, that they may make wise choices and live blameless lives filled with the fruit of righteousness until the day of Christ as in Philippians 1:9-11, showing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control as in Galatians 5:22-23, and love from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith as in 1 Timothy 1:5.
We also pray for healing and wholeness according to Psalm 103:2-5, Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24, for hunger for the Word as in 1 Peter 2:2, for the spirit of wisdom and revelation as in Ephesians 1:17-20, for boldness in evangelism with the Lord working with them as in Mark 16:15-20, for true worship in spirit and truth as in John 4:23, for the gifts of the Holy Spirit as in 1 Corinthians 12:4-8, and for steadfast intercession and rejoicing and thankfulness as in Isaiah 62:1-6, 1 Timothy 2:1-4 and Philippians 4:6-7.
We remember your request for their protection, and we pray as the Lord taught us to pray, lead them not into temptation but deliver them from the evil one as in Matthew 6:13 and Luke 11:4, and keep them from the world as Jesus prayed in John 17:15. Scripture teaches that prayer is a powerful weapon in temptations and that God is faithful and will not let them be tempted beyond what they can bear but will provide the way of escape that they may endure it as in 1 Corinthians 10:13. Though temptations and afflictions come, they can be for good when they drive us to prayer and to reliance on God.
We pray that these young men, though young in years, may be mature in Christ, showing temperance and courage and self control, for it is possible to be old in youth when one walks wisely before God. May the Lord guard them from sin and keep their lips from deceit as in Zephaniah 3:13, and keep them from being led astray by pride as warned in 1 Corinthians 8:1.
We thank God in advance trusting His promises as in Mark 11:23-24, and we commit these young men to the Lord asking that they grow in prayer as in Luke 11:1-11, continue with one accord in prayer, and be kept blameless. May the Lord answer according to His will and for His glory. Amen.
