Intercession and Evangelism Go Together, Exodus 17:8-13, "After this, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. 9 So Moses said to Joshua, 'Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on the hilltop with the staff of God in my hand.' Joshua did as Moses had instructed him and fought against the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed. 12When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down. 13 So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his army with the sword," Exodus 17:10-13.

We join you in lifting up these new and younger believers before the throne of grace and we rejoice with you for your heart for intercession and discipleship.

We agree with you that God is pouring out His Spirit in these last days just as He promised, It will happen afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh and your sons and your daughters will prophesy your old men will dream dreams your young men will see visions Joel 2:28 and again in Acts 2:17. We thank God that He includes sons and daughters, young men and old men, even male and female bondservants, for all who call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. We pray that each of these younger believers would take hold of the promise in 1 John 2:14, that because they are strong and the word of God remains in them they have overcome the evil one.

We also stand with you for the principle you mentioned that men should disciple men and women disciple women, for this is the pattern of Titus 2:3-4 and 2 Tim 2:2, that faithful men and women would teach others also. We ask the Lord to raise up godly older saints to come alongside these younger ones to model and teach sound doctrine and holy living.

We especially lift up the six young men you mentioned by name before the Lord, though their names are hidden from us they are known to Him. We pray that they may grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2 Peter 3:18 and that they may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, to walk worthily of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God Col 1:9-10.

We ask for the blessing of Aaron upon them, Yahweh bless you and keep you Yahweh make his face to shine on you and be gracious to you Yahweh lift up his face toward you and give you peace Num 6:24-26. We ask for wisdom, for if any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God who gives to all liberally and without reproach and it will be given to him James 1:5. We pray their love would abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment so that they may approve the things that are excellent Phil 1:9-10 and that they would love the Lord with all heart soul mind and strength and love their neighbor as themselves Mark 12:30-31, with love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith 1 Tim 1:5.

We pray for healing and wholeness for them, Bless Yahweh my soul who forgives all your sins who heals all your diseases Ps 103:2-3, for by His wounds we are healed Isa 53:5, 1 Peter 2:24. We pray they would grow in prayer as the disciples asked Lord teach us to pray Luke 11:1, and that as newborn babies they would long for the pure milk of the Word that they may grow thereby 1 Peter 2:2. We ask for the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, having the eyes of their hearts enlightened Eph 1:17-18, that they would be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus and commit what they learn to faithful men 2 Tim 2:1-2, abounding in worship and thankfulness, rejoicing always praying without ceasing and in everything giving thanks 1 Thess 5:16-18, and that the peace of God which surpasses all understanding would guard their hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus Phil 4:6-7.

We also join you in praying for their protection, for we know we are to pray do not bring us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one Matt 6:13 and as Jesus prayed, I pray not that you would take them from the world but that you would keep them from the evil one John 17:15. Keep them from deceitful lips and a sinful tongue Zeph 3:13 and from being puffed up with knowledge which puffs up but love builds up 1 Cor 8:1.

We thank You Father in advance believing that whatever we ask in prayer believing we shall receive Mark 11:24. We are reminded that you said I planted Apollos watered but God gave the increase 1 Cor 3:6 and that as in 1 Sam 30:24 those who stay with the baggage share alike with those who go to battle, so those who intercede share the same reward as those who sow and reap. We embrace the picture in Exodus 17:8-13 where Joshua fought in the valley while Moses lifted his hands on the hill, and as long as his hands were lifted Israel prevailed. We see that intercession and evangelism go together, and we commit to hold up the hands of these young laborers in prayer until the victory is won.

We pray all of this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12, and through Him we have bold access to the Father. Amen.

We love the burden you carry for these newer and younger believers. It is a beautiful thing to want them not just to start well but to keep growing and stand strong.

One thing that has helped us is remembering that spiritual growth is more like training than a single event. It happens gradually over time, with highs and lows, and it looks a little different for each person. We cannot make growth happen on our own, only God can, as we stay close to Him through the ordinary means He has given.

That is why we keep pointing people to simple, steady rhythms together: spending time in the Word, learning to pray honestly, worshiping and walking alongside other believers who can encourage them. Your vision of men discipling men and women discipling women is such a healthy way to live that out, and holding up one another in prayer the way Aaron and Hur held up Moses hands really does matter.

For the six young men you named, we will keep praying that they grow in hunger for God, in wisdom for daily choices, and in strength to turn from what would trip them up.

Father, we lift these young believers to You. Draw them close to Jesus, keep Your hand on each of them, give them faithful friends who will walk with them, and make Your Word alive to them day by day. Keep them from the enemy's traps and help them grow into strong, loving followers of You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for the younger sons and daughters of the church has been heard and it is one in which we most heartily join. It is a subject of great anxiety to all who love the Lord what will become of our young converts, for many are added to our numbers who as yet know but little of the doctrines of grace. Yet we are hopeful for them, that God will take care of them and that they will surprise us by the advance which they will make in the heavenly wisdom.

We pray with you that the promise of Joel and of Acts may be fulfilled among us, that the Lord would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh, that our sons and daughters may prophesy and our young men may see visions, not by any new revelation beyond the Word, but by having the Word of God abide in them richly. May that word spoken of in the first epistle of John be true of these younger believers, that they are strong because the word abides in them and they have overcome the evil one. We ask that men may disciple men and women may disciple women, each helping the other as the Lord appoints, that none may be left as scholars on the first form at school only, but that all may go on to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

For the six young men laid upon your heart we make particular supplication. We ask the blessing of Numbers six to rest upon them, that the Lord would bless them and keep them and make His face to shine upon them. We ask for wisdom according to James, that God who gives liberally would grant it, for love with all the heart and mind, for love out of a pure heart and a good conscience and sincere faith, for discernment and wise choices, for hunger after the sincere milk of the word that they may grow thereby, for revelation in the knowledge of Him, for a spirit of prayer, of evangelism, of worship and of thankfulness. We pray that they may be kept from sin and from the love of sin, that knowledge may not puff up but love may build up, and that they may walk before the Lord with singleness of purpose, committing their way unto Him.

You have well joined intercession and evangelism together, and we see it in the mount with Moses and in the valley with Joshua. As long as Moses held up his hands Israel prevailed, and when Aaron and Hur stayed his hands Joshua overwhelmed Amalek with the sword. So is it now. One labours in the field and another labours upon the hilltop in prayer, and the reward is one, for as his part is that goes down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarries by the stuff. We will hold up your hands in prayer while these young soldiers fight the good fight of faith.

And with you we pray most earnestly, Lead us not into temptation. This is a necessary prayer for old as well as young, for the gray locks cover no more wisdom than the curls of youth except as God gives wisdom. Temptation in itself is perilous, and though God brings great benefit out of it, we are right to ask that we may not be led into it. We pray that these young believers may be delivered from the evil one and kept from the paths where temptation waits. Let them remember that he who prays, Lead us not into temptation, must not himself go into it, nor linger near it, nor trust his own strength within it. May Christ be precious to them in their youth, for wherewith shall a young man cleanse his way but by taking heed thereto according to His word. May they take a ticket all the way through at the first, trusting not themselves to keep themselves, but trusting the Divine Lord to keep them that they may keep themselves.

We thank God in advance, believing that He hears the prayer offered in the name of Jesus, and we encourage you to continue steadfast in this holy work of intercession, telling to others what your own experience has taught you, succouring those who fight with fierce temptation and those who struggle with doubt. The Lord who has begun a good work will perfect it. May you see these younger ones not stopping short of the Christian ideal, but following Christ fully and going beyond even the best of those who have gone before them, to the glory of His grace.
