Please can you pray for an odour following me everywhere very musty

We have heard your request about this very musty odour that seems to follow you everywhere and we join with you in prayer about it, both for your body and for your spirit, seeking the Lord's help and cleansing in Jesus' name.

We want to gently share that you did not mention the name of Jesus in your request, and we want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and also There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, confessing your sins and believing that He died and rose again for you, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9.

The Bible speaks of odour in both a physical and spiritual sense. For we are a sweet aroma of Christ to God, in those who are saved and in those who perish. 2 Corinthians 2:15. Our desire is that our lives and our bodies would reflect the cleanliness and holiness Christ gives us inwardly. We also know that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to care for them. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20.

We encourage you to consider both practical and spiritual steps while you pray. On the practical side, we urge you to seek medical counsel to rule out any underlying physical cause such as skin, sinus, dental, digestive, or metabolic issues, and to maintain careful hygiene, laundry, and diet, as God cares for our whole person. On the spiritual side, we encourage you to ask the Lord to search your heart and to cleanse you fully. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10. If there has been any involvement with occult practices, superstition, or unconfessed sin that might give ground to spiritual oppression, we encourage you to renounce it and turn fully to Christ, for our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, and Christ has overcome them. We also want to rebuke fear and shame that can come with a burden like this, because God does not want you to live in constant distress or isolation, but to bring every anxiety to Him. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We also encourage you to invite trusted Christian believers or elders to pray with you in person, for Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. James 5:14-15.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is troubled by this musty odour that follows everywhere. Lord, You know the source of this affliction whether it is physical, spiritual, or both, and nothing is hidden from Your sight. We ask for Your mercy and Your healing touch upon the body. Cleanse, restore, and bring health and freshness, and guide to wise medical help if needed. We ask also for Your spiritual cleansing. Wash away all sin and oppression by the blood of Jesus, renew a right spirit within, and let this life be a sweet aroma of Christ to You. We rebuke any work of the enemy that would harass or shame, and we ask You to fill this place with Your peace and presence. Grant wisdom, hope, and assurance that You hear and answer according to Your perfect will. Restore confidence and fellowship with others, and let Your healing and deliverance be evident so that You receive all the glory. We pray all of this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, amen.

We have heard your request and have carried it before the throne of grace, for this trial which follows you everywhere must be a heavy burden to bear.

There are afflictions of the body which wound the spirit also, and make a man to feel ashamed and cast down. Yet be assured that the Lord has not forgotten you. Has the Head forgotten a finger of His own body. He who wrote your name in wounds upon His hand has not turned His ear from your cry. Man is a double being, composed of body and soul, and the Lord Jesus has pity upon the whole man. He is the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing beneath His wings, and even the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of His people. The least thing about Christ is healing virtue, to change and restore and make fresh that which was burdened.

We will pray that the Lord in His mercy will grant you deliverance from this affliction. We ask Him to show you the cause and the cure, and to lift from you any shame or heaviness that this has laid upon your heart. As you seek the Lord, we also urge you with Christian prudence to seek the help of a physician, that what may have a bodily cause may be wisely examined and treated. Oftentimes the body needs care as well as the soul needs prayer, and the Lord is pleased to work healing by both means.

Do not despair, nor think that your prayer is lost upon the wind. Bring your grief to Him who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. Trust not in your own strength, but in Free Grace alone, and look continually to Jesus, in whose wounds there is healing and in whose death there is life.

Let us pray for you now.

O Lord our God, who hast made our bodies and redeemed our souls with precious blood, look in compassion upon this Thy servant who is troubled by this infirmity. Thou knowest how this odour follows him and causes distress both day and night. Lay Thy healing hand upon him. If there be any disease or hidden cause, reveal it and guide him and those who care for him to that which will bring relief. Cleanse, restore and refresh his body, and quiet his spirit with the sense of pardoned sin and Thy nearness. Let him prove that Thou art still Jehovah who bringeth forth and delivereth, and give him cause to live and declare the works of the Lord. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Healer. Amen.

We will continue to remember you in prayer, and we pray you may soon be able to testify of the Lord's goodness in delivering you, and find renewed peace in fellowship with Him.

We have received your request concerning the musty odour that seems to follow you everywhere, and we have brought it before the Lord in prayer.

Scripture and the teaching of the church remind us that sin is like dead works that breathe forth an ill odor and trouble the soul, polluting us more deeply than anything outward. That does not mean every bodily affliction is a direct result of a particular sin, but it does call us to look honestly at our hearts while we also care for our bodies. God in His mercy sometimes allows the body to feel what the soul has not yet felt, so that we will turn to Him for healing in both.

Therefore we pray for you now for cleansing and health in Christ alone, who alone saves and makes us clean.

Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. You know the burden of this constant odour and the distress it brings. We ask You to have mercy, to forgive sin through the blood of Christ, to wash and renew the heart, and to bring healing to the body according to Your will. Grant peace to the mind, calm to the understanding, and deliverance from all pollution of dead works. Help this one to hear Your word carefully and to keep it continually in mind, to walk with fortitude and with a heart set free from worldly things. If there is any cause in body that needs treatment, give wisdom to doctors and provision for proper care. Make this one whole, and keep him walking in holiness, lest a worse thing come upon him. Let him know he is a member of the body of Christ, not alone, but upheld by Your grace and by Your people. We ask this in Jesus name, Amen.

We encourage you to continue in a careful hearing of the word and continual recollection of it, as well as in prayer and confession before God, trusting not in yourself but in Christ who was nailed to the cross and rose to destroy the power of death and the devil. If you have not already done so, please also seek wise medical counsel to check for any physical cause, attend to daily hygiene, clothing and living environment, and speak with a trusted pastor who can walk with you personally and pray with you regularly.

God is not ashamed to draw near to those who come to Him humbly through Jesus Christ. Keep seeking Him, and He will give you boldness and peace whether in health or in trial.
